Hello everyone I am almost 18 months post op, I hit my lowest weight of 149 the end of June this year, then my father in law became very ill and came into hospice in our home, I took care of him as cancer took his life I watched him take his last breath and was a very big part of the caregiving process, since then i have gained about 15lbs. i currently weigh 162 which is still amazing from starting at 240 but i really wanted to get to 135. I have heard people say that therre body will eventually settle at a weight that is comfortable. 2 questions what did you start with to get back on track I know I have strayed well I still get all my protein in for the day I am pretty sure I eat way to much other stuff that i shouldnt I have tracked my calories on mfp and i average about 1500 a day. i do exercise 2-3x a week it doesnt seem to matter what i do my weight wont budge I have remained this weight for the past 2 months. While I am happy i am not gaining any more i am also frustrated that I am not losing either. Any advice or support that I can use to lose the regain and get to my goal???

Hi there, I recently got back on track and am losing regain. My RNY was in 2005 and I went from weighing 275 down to 130 and my body settled between 140-150 maybe in 2008. I started regaining because I started eating carbs again and drinking tons of regular Dr. Pepper! I probably drink my calories for the most part, at that time, and grazed on pretzels and other carbs. I recently weighed 203. Started back on track by coming to this website and I am now at 192. I cut out the obvious carbs-pretzels, chips, snacks, and Dr. Pepper. I drink only water now and eat things like light string cheese by Frigo, Deli Fresh meats and chicken breast by Oscar Meyer, oatmeal, and I supplement protein shakes if I need to up my protein. I get about 100 of protein per day/try to keep my carbs very low, and do not drink before, during, nor right after eating. These things along with walking for exercise are getting me back to losing again. You can lose the amount you want, just by making the choices to eat high protein, drink water, vitamins, exercise. Tess on here always has some great tips, I go to her for advice!

For me personally to lose weight, I have to cut my calories back to 800 a day and my protein up between 80-100 grams a day.  Carbs need to stay below 50 net grams and no drinking during or after meal for at least 30 minutes.  No white products, (sugar, flour, pasta, sweets, potatoes, etc). Eat green and lean.  Exercise at least 30 minutes a day and journal daily to keep you honest with what is going on.  I stay on top of my vitamins to make me feel good too!  As I get closer to my goal, I slowly increase my calories up until they are back at 1200 calories a day.  That is what I maintain on.  You can get your weight back off but you are in the hard time of season to do it.  I started in May and lost through February and this helped me survive the holiday season.  I dropped 70 lbs of regain during that time so I know this will work.  I have maintained within 10 lbs. of the lost for almost 2 years now.  Good luck to you.
