Good Morning Botters!

I am feeling perky today!  Not sure why yet but I think it is going to be a good day.  The weather is crisp with a high today of 55 degrees.  I have my cute black ankle boots on and a new leopard print sweater cardigan.  Yeah, I am feeling perky today!  My eats for today are:

Breakfast:  Coffee & Miralax

2nd Breakfast:  Oatmeal

Snack:  Fiber One Bar

Lunch:  Quest Brownie Bar

Snack:  Banana

Dinner:  Lean Pocket Steak & Cheese

Snack:  Vitatop

Exercise:  Bike

I hope everybody has a "perky" day and please remember those vits and fluids.  Have a great Tuesday!

Good morning Tess and BOTT friends,

I've been M.I.A. for the last several days.  I had my thyroidectomy on Fri 11/8, and on Mon 11/11, my sister found her husband had passed away in his sleep during the night.  They live in NYC, and my MD cleared me to go.  I had to have my stitches removed a few days early, and keep the wound covered.  Those were my only requirements per my MD.  We were in NYC from Thursday until yesterday, and I am very happy to be back home and resting.  It was very a very difficult time for our family, but we will keep each other in prayer for healing and strength.

I remained faithful to my food plan with 2 exceptions...I had a small slice of sweet potato pie on Sunday, and succumbed to a pizza slice yesterday when we stopped for the requisite NY style pizza pie on the way home.  I'm not a pizza fanatic, but MY GOODNESS, it was the BEST slice of pizza I ever had (big enough for 4 servings, but I only ate half).  I also had curried goat (no rice) from a Jamaican restaurant on Sunday.  I ate very little because even though the flavor was spectacular, I was overwhelmed by the salt.  I did get in lots and lots of water though.

Exercise was walking more than I normally would due to parking constraints, and I would've loved to walk more and take the train, but my medical restrictions limited that, and the hotel gym didn't have a recumbent bike.  So I am so ready to catch up on my bike workouts.  The best news is that I lost another half pound, so I had no weight gain from the increased carbs, and I was able to get right back on program this morning.  That is a first for me because in the past, if I strayed from my plan it would take an act of congress to get me back on track.  So I guess I've really come far since starting here in Feb.  As always, I'll post my eats later today, but the morning started off with high protein and coffee.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Shelia:  I am so sorry about your sister's loss and yours.  I am glad that you were able to go to New York to be with her.  Family is so important.  I am sure you got plenty of walking in during this trip.  I went two summers ago and walked everywhere and yes, I did have a slice of pizza pie, it was delicious!  I am happy to see you back on line and I know you missed your bike workouts, glad you are down a 1/2 pound though, that is awesome!  I have to tell you though when I was in New York I made the mistake of eating a street vendor's hotdog.  It did not stay down, I ended up throwing up in a garbage can in front of one of the high dollar department stores next to Central Park.  No body even paid attention to me.  I guess I can take that one off my bucket list!

OMG...so sorry about the hotdog fiasco, Tess!  I didn't even go there, but don't think I didn't want to :)  I did cave on the pizza, but I'm glad I did.

Thank you for the condolences, and know that I am also happy to be back here.  I hope your day continues to be a "perky" one :)

Sheila - So sorry to hear about your brother in law. Family is oh so important and this time of year is a reminder of it almost everywhere you look.

I'm not my "perky" self this morning. I woke up with a skull busting headache at 4 this morning. Now that the Arthritis strength tylenol and caffeine have kicked in it's gotten better. Over a 30 degree temperature drop from yesterday would explain the headache. Along with sentimental/overly emotional days....Saturday was 12 years since my 1st husband passed away. Yesterday would have been our 24th weding anniversary. Lots and lots of emotions. I do know that I am stronger than I ever could have imagined 12+ years ago in countless ways. Sometimes it takes an occassional migraine to remind me of just how far I've come. When I was a teenager and my Mammy (grandmother that lived with us since I was 4) died, I woke up with a headache a few months after the funeral. I had the same skull buster every single day for over 6 months....CT scans, therapy, meds, you name it I tried it, nothing helped. Woke up one morning and it was gone. It's amazing to me how the human body grieves even if we don't outwardly show the stages and signs.

Today's plan is looking like:

Commute: Coffee

Breakfast:  Multi-grain cheerios & fake milk

snack:  Cheez-its (What on earth was I thinking?!?!)

lunch:  Chicken tortilla soup

snack:  apples & peanut butter

Dinner:  Baked chicken & salad

I've got the vitamins and meds in this morning. Working on glass #2 of my decaf tea already. Getting up and walking around the office for 5 minutes every hour went fairly well yesterday. Knees still aren't cooperating fully but my plan is to show them who's the boss. lol

Have a great day. - Iris

Iris,  my heart goes out to you.  We never really get over some of our losses, they really hit hard.  It's amazing to me that we can compartmentalize our emotions to function in day to day activities.  Wow...a 30 degree drop in temperature?  My body would be in shock and my sinuses would let me know who is boss.  My wish for you is to have a healthy emotional and physical day.  You don't have to feel perky just yet tho.

And don't think for a red hot second that I missed the Cheez-its!  Be careful!  Once I started, they owned me!!!!  blush
