Back On Track Together
Monday, September 16th, Cardio & Cafe
Hi Louisa. I drink a large mug of coffee every morning. I put a cap full of Miralax in it per my doctor. I put SF French Vanilla and SF Praline syrup in it to make it awesome. Better than Starbucks. This cup of coffee keeps my pipes clean and functioning quite well. I guess if we are confessing, I am also a diet pepsi addict. Do you remember when they said that your pouch would swell from the carbonation? Per fabrication. I have several cans a day. I also drink lots of crystal lite, propel, and water too. Have a great day!
Good evening, BOTT friends,
I've had a pretty busy day, and did 2 bike workouts so I'm going to make this short. I have an early a.m. appointment, so I need to try to get some sleep. I did a total of 112 minutes on my recumbent bike, covering 13 miles. Today I ate:
B: shake made with vanilla protein powder, 1 c almond milk, 10 crushed natural almonds, 3 tbsps SF pumpkin spice creamer
S: 6 ozs meat from steamed blue crabs (no butter)
L: 5 ozs homemade meatballs in marinara on sandwich thin, 2 tbsps shredded parmesan
D: BLT made with 6 strips low sodium turkey bacon on sandwich thin, 2 tsps mayo, lots of lettuce, tomato, 1/2 c steamed cabbage & carrots
S: 1/2 c All Bran, 1/2 c almond milk, 2 tbsps pumpkin spice creamer
Higher carbs than I normally have, but the exercise quickly canceled them out. Goodnight friends :)
Hi BOTT's!
I know I replied to some posts today, but I never really posted about me, so here goes. I had a pretty good weekend. I made it to my nutrition support group, so I think I only have one more this month and I made my goal!! I feel pretty good about setting and achieving this one, especially since it was pouring rain Wednesday night and the easy thing to do would have been to stay home and keep dry. The nutrition support class was very good - lot of questions asked and information given - pretty much keep it simple - if not getting enough protein, consider liquefying a meal, utlilizing a protein shot in your water for a double whammy or whatever it takes. Get that protein and water in, first and foremost.
Saturday night I really ate way more after dinner than I have done in a long time. The hard part was that I wanted to keep eating, too. Luckily, I did pause and then I stopped. I did log every single bite - which I was happy about getting it out and where I could take a look at it and be honest. I went 600 + over. I cut 400 from yesterday and today and did not feel deprived, so am happy about that. For the first time ever, I truly feel like I am making changes instead of being on a diet and I am so grateful for my willingness to log all the foods and then make a plan to cut some calories on some days going forward. I will see how tomorrow goes. We are having a potluck at work. My coworker and I split ordering sandwiches, so I will be able to take off the bread and they come without dressing. I also ordered a tomato mozzarella salad for another coworker, so no matter what anyone else brings, I have what I need to eat - LOL - feels good to plan ahead again!
So that is my dirty little secret on the table for all to see!! Sunday was better. I helped my friend who just got "sleeved" with ordering protein and supplements and all that, so that really took me back to the beginning again and remembering how overwhelming all that was - me, I am all about trying to find the best bang for my buck.
Today was a good day - no snacking between meals - plenty of liquids.
Louise
Hi All.
My second infusion went well, just feeling a little icky now...body achy which is normal for me following an infusion. Well worth it, tho!!!
To answer the question about why I get them: I have always been anemic so after RNY it was no surprise that it continued, however, no matter how much or what brand or type of oral iron supplement I take, my body just does not seem to absorb it now. I get blood tests about every 6 months to monitor it but my personal indicator that I am very low is that my restless leg syndrome goes NUTS and I become increasingly more lethargic which adds to my depression. It's a snowball affect. I take lexapro and welbutrin for my depression and it's seems to be a great combination for me.
Gaby (:
Gaby, Thank you so much for the information - I had no idea that low iron can make restless leg syndrome worse! Last January, my Ferritin was 39...I think the lowest I was in the beginning was 11 - yikes...everytime I had labs, I increased my iron....Now I take 180 of the Bariatric Advantage and so far, so good. It does not bother me and I take it before bed. I remember taking some sort of liquid a long time ago - mostly I was so scared of needing infusions! I appreciate you letting us know the ins and outs of your infusions!! Louise
