Back To Bariatrics Basics!!!!!

Hi!  I know it's been a couple of weeks since I checked in... and I've had a rough couple of weeks~! I got way off track and put a few lbs back on.... but as of this past Friday.. I'm doing good!   I still can't exercise much but I've started PT for my foot and hopefully will be given the "go-ahead" soon!

I have found that if I stay away from the "simple carbs".. or "whites", it's easier for me to stay on track!

That being said... my daughter made a batch of 100% whole wheat Pumpkin Scones.. with greek yogurt, that were absolutely wonderful!!  I only had 1.. at about 160 calories, it was sooo worth it!

I know my surgeon would not be especially happy with me, but I have decided NOT to give up my latte's completely.  I have cut down... and they are s/f and f/f...  It's my one weakness, and something I really enjoy.... and DH and I REALLY enjoy "going out for coffee!"   There are other things I can and will give up, but not those.  I did try.... but really missed not only the latte, but that special time with my DH... just him and I.

I've missed reading all of your posts.. so I'll be back much more often. I haven't given up...hadn't given up.. just needed to regroup!!!

All things in moderation....lattes included. Unless it's a trigger food for you, I see no reason to bani**** When I declare something off limits I tend to obsess over it. We're looking at lifestyle modifications and not "crash diet" limitations.

You've got this. Enjoy the quality time spent over cofee with the DH. You'll never regret that decision.

Hi Blanche.  Iris is right.  I never vanish food because it makes me want it all that much more.  Sometimes I have a craving for a deadly "honey bun".  I can eat an extra 1000 calories trying to find a substitute for the cake when I could have ate 360 calories and been done with it.  Enjoy your lattes with DH.  These times are what is important in life.

I sure relate to eating the extra calories trying to substitute for what I really want.  I have found now I am better off to get it; many times I will eat half, or even less and then either share with the hubs or save it for the next day and be willing to fit it into the caloric total.  Usually my husband gets it because that "old" taste just was not the same anyway....

Thanks all for the support!  My Dr's PA had told me that I absolutely had to give them up.... and I didn't want to, so..  after a few weeks of trying, I'm not going to!!
