Hi guys...
It is weekend. Let's have fun ...remembering that we can have fun and still eat right food and move....
I get days or weeks that I crave one food type, and can it that all the time, then that goes away until another cravings comes along.
For a while I had to eat pickles. I averaged 1 large jar as day...that lasted for close to a month...until that craving was gone. Now I have one pickle maybe once a week.
Now - I need jello- I can't get enough... I have been making and eating at least 2-3 cups of ready jello a day. I even make my RTD proteins with gelatin...(made a jello from RTD adding gelatin)
My body may be missing collagen. The good things about those cravings is that so far they are relatively low calorie items and I can eat them almost guilt free.
Today I plan to have a massage, walk some outside (we got the cool front- it is going to be a great day) , then plan to have dinner with my friends.....keeping busy...

I do need to make sure I drink enough...

Hi there,

Today I am attending Nutrition Support Group - not been to this one before so interested to see what it is like.  Last month I took the Nutrition 101 class and it was great - I learned alot and have tweaked my supplements a bit, so on the road to better health and living!

I am logging ALL of my intake on MFP - even the foods I do not want to eat, but it is my food log and I need to see it, black on white!  I need to play with the settings again and see if I can log by time instead of by titles, which can be changed up.  If I cannot do times, I might tweak my titles again and clearly mark them as "between meal eating" instead of "mid morning snack".....that way it is more front and center that I am eating between the meals.  I was able to change up one of my meds that needs to be taken with food, so that I could take it in the morning and let go of the "mid-morning" snack.  I feel really good about that, too, because I did not miss that snack, nor feel hungry without it - my kind of progress, NSV or whatever it is called!

How do you make Ready Jello?  What about making jello with RTD protein?  Is that more like pudding?  I remember making protein jello when I was fresh postop, but have no recollection of how to make it or anything (I had some family trauma during that time, so if I do not find it in notes or logs or online journal, I have no memory...).  I am not quite up the where I want to be with my protein intake, so that might be a good option for me to try.  Mostly I try to eat food, but the increased protein really holds me better; I just do not want to only eat and drink bars and shakes.

Hi, logging food is great. I do that at least one week every month.
As for my jello - I use Knor unflavored gelatin. I tried to mix that before with my protein powder - but that got gritty.

Now I take a good tasting protein shake (mix it myself or RTD) . then I dissolve the gelatin (need one packet - or more if you want it more set- for every 8 oz of finished product ) .
I used 2 envelops of gelatin with 2 oz or water to soften the gelatin then add an additional 2 oz of ho****er. Mix well, if still no it completely dissolved nuke for 30 sec. Mix 'that with the protein shake - making 1.5 cups of final product. Taste it - add sweeteners or flavors - pour in one or few containers - let it set in a fridge at least 3-6 hrs. I can top that with bit of whip cream ..

I also use cream cheese + add protein powder + add flavored + add dissolved gelatin to make "protein cheesecake" .....

Hi friends,

Didn't post yesterday, so thought I'd chime in today for a minute.  H.a.l.a., I know what you mean about craving certain foods, and I do have those occasionally, but I also have been fortunate that they were not high calorie or carb-y foods.  I love pickles, but I have to limit them due to the sodium.  I have mild hypertension, but it's gotten much better since I lost some weight and watch my sodium intake.  I'm a savory/salty foodie, not a sugar lover, and I could do without chocolate for the rest of eternity.  Throw me a few slices of turkey bacon, and I am content :)

I ate my usual food and came under my allotted calories yesterday.  Got my bike workout done (at last my back was agreeable) and did 74 minutes, covering 10.1 miles.  I found SF pumpkin spice coffee creamer yesterday and fell in love!  Had it in iced coffee yesterday, and again last night in a bowl of All Bran with almond milk (that was dinner).

I also lucked out and got the last dozen jumbo steamed blue crabs from my favorite fish market, and I was in hog heaven :)

It's nice and cool here today, also.  Went out this morning for breakfast with my BF, and visited a local small fishing pier afterward to see what was happening.  All in all, a great relaxing day, and looking forward to my usual Saturday horror movie night later.  Will note today's eats and exercise in another post.  Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Shelia, glass your back is better.
As I am craving and eating jello - I had to Google it and find out what is it good for. I found a few articles and many posts that indicate that gelatin - collagen - can help and is very beneficial for joints. And that it can help people who deal with back pain, joints pain.... It also it suppose to help with hair and skin....
Since I started exercise and dealt with back pain - I think this may be my body telling me I need collagen... Google that - if taking cheap gelatin with help even with 10-20 % of back pain - maybe it is worth trying...?

Sounds like a plan...cheap, harmless and beneficial to boot.  Think I'll try it.  Thanks!

Got my cardio in yesterday in the form of HOUSEWORK. I swear it never ends. I decided to clip my pedometer on yesterday - just for giggles - I had over 8000 steps before mid afternoon. Our house is not that big but I was all over the place.

This cool front is incredible. No humidity. I aired the house out yesterday. It looks like everyone burrowed down under their blankets last night (Guess it was to hard to shut the windows!!). The house is quiet this morning and my coffee is perfect.

We'll be saying goodbye to David's brother and sister in law later this morning. It is so much fun while they're here. They've bought a trailer in the neighborhood and plan to retire here in hopefully the next 5 to 10 years. Until then we have to settle on enjoying an occasional week and long weekend with them in residence.

We're planning on a trip to Portsmouth, VA today. The Coast Guard tall ship "The Eagle" is docked there for the weekend and they've got free tours this afternoon. Cameron really wants to try and go to the Coast Guard Academy and this could be him in just a few more years.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon.

Iris , I know whats you mean about housework ..It never ends.... And no matter how much you do - there is always more to do.
We do enjoy the weather. We had weather like that when we were on vacation in Chicago o week ago. Perfect.
Wow the ship...I know my BF would love to see that... I like things like that but he enjoys them like A kid can IYKWIM.

Iris, 8000 steps cleaning house is amazing!!  I might have to clip on my pedometer more often....well, I will have to find it...might have to buy a new one - you have inspired me!  Thx!

Had a late nigh****ching horror flicks and didn't get the chance to sign on again.  Back was feeling better yesterday, so I managed 2 recumbent bike workouts to catch up for the days I missed.  WRONG ANSWER!  I managed 74 minutes total and 10.4 miles, but when I got done, my back was telling the news!  I know better than that, but sometimes I don't listen to reason or learn from experiences.  Anyway, suffice to say that I will not be trying to "catch up" anymore.  What's done is done, and I'll just go on from there.

My eats were:

B:  IHOP:  2 strips turkey bacon, 2 turkey sausage links, 2 eggs with cheese, coffee with Splenda and 3 creamers

L:  6 ozs meat from steamed blue crabs (no butter), 2 oz lean beef burger with cheese (no bun and no condiments)

S:  Iced coffee with Splenda and SF pumpkin spice creamer, 1/2 c pistachios

D:  BLT made with sandwich thin, 6 strips low sodium turkey bacon, 1 tbsp mayo, lots of lettuce, tomato

LNS:  3 c watermelon chunks
