I hate the residual effects of a migraine. Some of them leave me feeling like my hair hurts. I hate that for you. Maybe some extra fluids will help. This crazy weather we're having hasn't helped either. I've already started my fall sneezing episodes. Nothing but the fall grasses and pollen. Gotta love it. I wonder if sneezing fits can count as cardio? lol.

Have a great day.

Good morning BOTTs.

Confession time....I caved to a carb frenzy last night.  it started out as a splurge, I measured out a serving size of 29 reduced fat Cheez-its...read the box 130 calories 4g protein and 20 carbs.  I'm premenstrual, so I justified it.  (I can justify anything if I put my mind to it, unfortunately.)  Well, I didn't make it stop there and like a shark in a feeding frenzy, I couldn't stop and I honestly didn't even think for a minute about doing something to ward off more damage.  Once the box was empty, I felt horrible emotionally and began thinking rationally...why didn't I just log onto this website to get my brain back where it needed to be?    I've done it in the past when I was having unhealthy food cravings and it's been a blessing.  I know it does no good to beat a dead horse so I am moving on.  Obviously one slip can send me spiraling on a binge when it comes to sliders.  The first thing I thought of this morning was, "I wonder if there are any more left in the bottom of the box?"  blush   Instant addiction.

I will not buy anymore Cheez-its...I never even liked them before.  So crazy.  It was like crack, I imagine.

Today is a new day.

B-  Protein drink

S-  Protein bar

L-  tuna salad

S-  boiled egg,  grapes

D-  half chicken breast and salad

S-  sf jello

Drinking even more water today to help flush out the sodium overload.  Puffy eyes are just not attractive on me.

Have a great day, all.

Gaby

One day - one box of them will not make you gain weight... and if that is one time, once in a while  some people actually see that one splurge day every 2-3 weeks and great diet for the rest of the time - actually resets their body and they start losing again..  but - that means great diet all other days and really one day splurge. Don't be surprised when the scale jumps up a lb and then down 2-3 lbs.. I have see that..

Over the weekend my Bf and we went out - I had 3 days of normal eating with wine.. and my scale dropped 3 lbs...  but I have been doing all other good days.. and exercising..

I was trying to keep my daily calories at 1200 – 1250, but that’s just too low for me.  I can feel it.  I feel sluggish and irritable.  Part of the benefit of my RNY is mal-absorption but I have no idea what percentage of calories typically do not get absorbed.  I need to research that and see if I can find out.  What I do know is I feel much better when I stay around 1450 – 1500 calories daily. Since 1200 calories per day is the minimum for normal people, then maybe for me the extra 250 – 300 is what doesn’t get absorbed. ???

Angela, That far out we probably absorb most calories from carbs and sugars. I know I still malabsorb some fat and proteins.  But mostly fats.

So I allow myself more fat in my diet and try to stay relatively low carbs.  Fats in nuts, coconut oil and cream, full fat cheese, eggs, even butter on my veggies... Fat keep my body happy.. and not hungry.. Carbs - yea - When I eat them I want  more and then more and more...

I believe you may be right H.a.l.a., because even at 13 yrs post op, if I ate something high fat, I would see the results as an oil slick in the toilet.  Carbs beget carbs...fact of life, that's why I continue to avoid them like the plague.  But Angela has a big point, as we (RNY'ers and DS'ers ) have had our plumbing re-routed.  Just how much malabsorption to be expected over time is probably very much subjective.  It's a question I plan to ask very soon when my family member goes in for her pre-op consult.

Hi Tess145!
Quick and curious question.

By eating like this, have you noticed your weight dropping at a fast speed?
I find your daily menu kinda small.
Just curious.

Curious minds want to know.

Actually my weight stays pretty much the same.  I am in more of a holding phase than a losing phase right now.  For me to actually lose weight, I have to eat around 800 calories and walk one hour a day, daily....
