OK.. so I am going out of town on Thursday for 5 days... eating each and every meal out for 5 days! Ugh.. AND... my nutritionist appt is the day after I return (she wants the last 2 weeks of food logs then) OMG.. well.. all I can do it try, right? LOL

I nearly wrecked my car today with my DH and my munchkins in it with me!.. I was wearing capri pants and felt what I thought was a fly on my leg... Ummm. NO. It was a HUGE spider!. I am an arachnaphob!!! I managed to get the car pulled over, jumped out (into traffic).. and my hubby COULDN'T FIND IT!! Sooo. I made him drive.. very carefully got into the passenger seat. He started to pull into traffic, I reached for my drink and... IT WAS ON MY DRINK!!!! Soo.. another case of jumping out (car was still moving! LOL)... he got it and tossed it out his side. I came home and got straight into the tub... creepy crawly.. eww.... and I made him go out and thoroughly clean out the car. I have to drive 7 hours in that car in a couple of days...
So... that was MY cardio workout for the day! LOL

Sorry about the spider.. I don't have problem with then but my sister does and I she would net get back in a car if there was a spider in - or she would think they may be a spider in it.

When I travel I take snacks with me.  When I travel in my car - I have RTD shakes (for quick grab a go) cooler with food - and things that do not need refrigeration (like pre-measured nuts, some meat sticks, veggie chips - terra chips in 1 oz snack size bags.   Add some cheese to that and I end up with a nice 2-3 meals -snacks a day.

Water - got some mio and desani drops.

as for meals  - most will accommodate you.  I do follow gluten free diet - so no bread or pasta, and rice and potatoes also do not agree with me.

But almost any place I can get fish or meat or eggs with veggies.

Breakfast - eggs and turkey bacon.  Or just eggs - cottage cheese - some fruit.  I always carry dry protein powder in my bag, some proteins bars (for emergencies), individual servings of PB and almond butter. and so on.

I am planning a small trip to Chicago in 2 weeks so I will be eating out all week.. but eating out can be lots of fun..

I carry most of those things with me as well...but I know myself.. and I will have a difficult time not eating what my Sister and her hubby are eating! LOL

For instance... they are pasta lovers... and so am I.

Today, I had a HORRIBLE food day, and this time I don't even know why!  Oh well.. tomorrow is yet another day!!

I feel for you.. In a way RNY works for me -  Pasta and rice, and bread - hurt me more than they don't, even a little. so I don't like them... (I hate being in pain) .. even small amount of potatoes may make my BS crash after one hour - and I hate that - so I also lost "taste" for those... My body reacts to gluten (I get gassy - smell and pain - ouch) so I adapter the gluten free diet...   In a way that is good - because I know I need to avoid most foods that I l really liked before WLS and that would make me put on weight.

For me - eating every 2 hrs - hungry of not (making myself eat) and making a deal with myself - that as long as I eat the proteins and some veggies - I can have anything else that can still fit inside my pouch and will not hurt me.. allows me to "splurge" on things that I can eat - i.e. whip cream: my cat and I love whip cream...

Good luck on your trip... try to make most good choices and allow yourself some "free" meals.. maybe that way you will not feel deprived? make sure you have fun... stressing too much what you can eat and how much - may cause you to overeat... low stress -lots of fun - and you maybe able to make better choices..

Blanche:

First, I am glad you got out of the car alive!  I would have jumped out of a moving car too!  As for your trip, what works for me when I am working my program, I do not even look at the menu.  I automatically order a house salad with dressing on the side with grilled chicken or steak for dinner.  I will eat egg omelets with fruit for breakfast and lunch is usually a club sandwich or small burger/grilled chicken or fish sandwich, no sides added.  Take protein bars, nuts, fruits and water to snack on in between meals as needed.  You will do great!  Have fun on your trip!

Sounds like you don't need a cardio work up at your next doctor's appointment. I'm not much on spiders either.

Good luck on the eating out. Having to log everything for your NUT should prove very beneficial in this case. A built in accountability to make the best choices.
