5 day pouch test
I am on day 3 of the 5 day pouch test. So far I am down 5 pounds. I am curious as to if people regained the weight once they were done? I am also scared because I was able to eat 7 oz of canned chicken and did not get full. Wondering if this means that my pouch is stretched out? No wonder why I don't get the feeling of being full anymore! Not sure what I should do. I see the bariatric surgeon in two weeks. Guess I will discuss it with him. Did anyone else discover this while doing the test?

I know my pouch is still small and I was able to eat 6 oz of fillet plus veggies. I was really full last night and I know 8 oz dense food is my upper limit.
It is good you are seeing the doc.

Canned chicken is really moist, and not as dense as a freshly cooked grilled or baked chicken breast. Some brands are so moist and mealy that they should be considered "slider foods". I did the pouch test when I started here in Feb...best move I ever made. It completely eliminated my carb cravings, and I went all out...no white or refined foods (flour, sugar etc.), no sodas, no fried foods, desserts (even SF), so forth and so on. I ate/eat like I did after my surgery when I lost the most.
I had an EGD and UGI in May 2011...pouch was still very small (40cc) but the stoma was enlarged, so I know I cannot drink with meals, as we were told from the beginning. I don't drink for 30 mins before a meal and 60 mins after (those are my choices, as some say 30 mins before and after). The pouch test worked for me mainly by eliminating my carb cravings. I can eat a 6 or 7 oz piece of meat plus vegs, and stay satiated for a long time. Slider foods stay awhile, but I'm hungry again 2 hrs later, so I try to avoid them.
I don't tempt myself because I know ME, and if I allow myself something I shouldn't have, I fear what used to happen in the past...I will stray and not eat well again for months, thus losing what progress I have made. As of a few days ago I have lost 49 lbs of my regain, and am under 200 lbs again, thank you Lord! Hope this helps, and best of luck to you :)
I have a confession. Day 5 started with two pieces of lemon cake that I had resisted the day before. We had a big family gathering and there was a ton of food that I resisted for the day. But I woke up, walked right into the kitchen and grabbed a piece of cake and then went back to get another. So I got my shoes on and went to the gym and did my daily walk. I would do more except for the fact that I just had a hysterectomy two weeks ago and am still on exercise restricition.
