Back On Track Together
Back To Bariatrics Basics checking in!
Ow! I went for a 4 mile walk with SERIOUS hills with my DH yesterday, and even though I really thought my knees and legs would be in pain today, it's my HIPS that HURT! UGH.. but.. I'm going to keep it up! My DH wants to walk a half marathon with him in May... (he usually runs the full).. I have walked the half twice before, but the last time got dangerously dehydrated (long story), and told him I won't try it again unless someone is walking WITH me.
I'm seriously out of shape.. but I will keep walking, training, and I WILL get there. I may have to call my ortho for some more injections to my knees though! LOL
Food wise, I'm doing pretty good. I'm having trouble keeping my carbs as low as I want them, but at least they are good carbs. Protein is high, and I am drinking at least 100 oz of water a day!
That's FABULOUS, Blanche! You've got your motivation right there beside you,,,someone else who's physically active and encouraging. I've never been one to walk outside much unless it was in the dead of winter (scared of creepy crawlies), so I would walk on my treadmill. But thanks to osteoporosis, my back fracture and spinal instability, I'm relegated to my recumbent bike or swimming as exercise, and since I love being alive, swimming is not an option, lol! I would love to learn how to swim, but that's another story.
Keep up the good work you've been doing, and keep posting! Your determination is infectious :)
Shelia we've got some great YMCAs in the Tidewater area and I'm sure they'd love to teach you to swim. I've found that just walking in the shallow end of the pool is great exercise. I love, love, love that for my daily exercise. Planning on going tomorrow afterwork for that very reason.
Blanche - good luck with the training. I understand the hips hurting. That can be a problem joint for me as well.
Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

I know, girl! It's just my "issues" that keep me from learning to swim and it has nothing to do with the water. You'd think anyone who spends as much time around water (fishing) would know how to save herself if she fell in, right :)
I used to belong to a gym for women only, and I still couldn't get up the nerve to wear a swimsuit due to these excess skin issues. There were women of all shapes/sizes, and no one cared how you looked, but I just couldn't get past myself. One day....maybe.
