Back On Track Together
Back To Bariatrics Basics
Hey all! I heard from the Dr's office and they FINALLY got all of my records!! Yeah Me.!! My appt is on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it .. and to getting my labs done. It's been a looonnng time.
So.. Today is my DH's birthday! He asked for Devil's Float (brownie pudding).. Good thing is I DON'T LIKE IT! LOL and even though he has also had RNY.. he can eat it.. and tolerate it, and NOT GAIN AN OUNCE! Grrr. He has taken up running.. burns off everything he takes in.. and he LIVES on Chocolate Milk.. He IS NOT a typical RNY patient! LOL
Tomorrow we are having a BBQ celebration for him.. grilling steaks, which is good. My DD is making a special cake for him.. and yes, I will have a tiny piece.. but ONLY a tiny piece. I am doing good on very limited simple carbs and feel so much better for it!
I took my pooch (Apollo, my Siberian Husky) for a walk last night that ended up over 3 miles.. I am very very sore today! LOL
Hi Blanche. I have been following your posts since you have been "Back to Bariatrics Basics." You are an inspiration to me. I had RNY in Nov 2010. My starting weight was 318. I never lost all of my weight. For the last two years, I have not lost or gained weight. Well, to be honest I have gained about 5 pounds in the few months. I have gotten back into some bad eating habits. I can't seem to get back on track. I am working hard right now to get rid of those bad eating habits. I have started back to monthly support group meetings. I live in southern Maryland and we have no WLS support down here. We do have a once a month meeting with a facilitator that comes down from Washington. I am back to journaling my eating. I started attending a weekly inexpensive weight loss group meeting. This is helping. Only one other person in this group has has WLS but our discussions (for the most part) applies to me and what I am trying to achieve. I have lost most of that 5 pounds I gained. I haven't given up on my weight loss journey. I am trying to kick start it again.
I am attending a renewal retreat in Oct in North Carolina. It is titled "Intentional Living after Weight Loss Surgery: The 8 Simple Steps to True Satisfaction." It is sponsored by Katie Jay, NAWLS. If you are interested in seeing more about it, you can go to www.nawls.com. I attended one of Katie's retreat the spring after I had my surgery. It was outstanding. I can't wait for the fall retreat.
