Hi Botts:

It is another hot day in my neighborhood and starting off as a stressful day.  I hope I have had the worst so that the rest of the day will be peaceful.  My eats for today are:

Breakfast:  Protein Shake

Snack:  Protein Bar

Lunch:  Protein Shake

Snack:  Protein Bar

Dinner:  Protein Shake

Snack:  Protein Pudding

My pouch has been out of source for the past week and I have not been able to keep regular foods down at night.  I thought I would go all protein today and see if this will settle my stomach down.

Have a great day and remember those vits and fluids.

I feel like maybe I should reintroduce myself. Life has been BBBBusy the past 2 months.

First the bad news...I gained 4 pounds.

Second the Good News....my Mom has had all of her cardiac surgeries and vascular surgery. HALLEJUHAH!!!! All of that is finally behind us. She's on the road to recovery and learning how to maintain a heart healthy lifestyle.

Finally the GREAT NEWS.....I got married a week ago. The 4th of July will never again be the same. It was truly a day of Family and friends. I'm now happily married to my very best friend. Together we're also adopting a heart healthy lifestyle. He's put down the cigarettes, I've purged the house of junk food and we've started walking together in the evenings.

I'll post a couple of wedding pics in another post.

Congratulations Iris on your marriage!  We have been missing you but I did not want to put you on the "MOST WANTED" list just yet.  So glad that your mom is doing so much better too.  And, loosing weight will be so much easy with a partner who wants to also.  We have been missing you and hope to see you again daily.

Iris!!  Like a breath of fresh air!  Great to hear from you again, and even greater to hear all the good news.  Glad that everything with your mom worked out, and hope that she adjusts and maintains well.  And congrats to you and the new hubby!  Missed your humor, though Tess has had some real zingers lately :)

Good evening, BOTT friends,

Had a great day today.  Went to a WLS support group meeting with a family member who's having the gastric sleeve in the near future.  Nobody knew I'd had WLS, and it was really amusing listening to all the new post-ops with their vows of NEVER GOING BACK.  I sat there silently, knowing that many of them would be in the same boat as we are in a few months/years.  It was not amusing in a laughable way...just kind of sad, because they have no clue as to what can happen.  They're still on that WLS high, and more power to them!

One person even said she "heard" that she can NEVER eat more than 2 ozs again in her life, so she couldn't understand how people could gain back any weight.  Listening to some of the folks in that group made me realize just how many people go into WLS thoroughly unprepared.  These were people (it was a pre-op support group, but there were post-ops in attendance) who, in some instances, seemed to need one-on-one guidance, and I fear for a few of them.

The instructor was great, but the class was large and a few people looked totally bewildered afterward.  She did encourage them to learn all they could about the surgery of their choice, and to follow up with any and all questions.

I returned home with a boat load of energy and did my bike workout for 68 minutes, covering 10 miles.  Today I ate:

B:  vanilla protein shake with SF International coffee and 1/3 c skim milk

L:  4 ozs deli ham on sandwich thin, 2 tsps mayo, lettuce, tomato

S:  1 c fresh cherries, SF McDonald's iced coffee (with Splenda)

D:  6 ozs grilled sirloin, sauteed portobellos and onions, lettuce and tomato salad, 2 tbsps light ranch dressing

Goodnight friends :)

It still amazes me in this day and age how many pre-ops are still no better prepared than we were years ago.  I don't believe that we had much education as to vitamins, proteins and such that is available today for the asking.  Doctors need to teach more so we all can stay healthy in the long run.
