Everything went beautifully for our littles ones' surgeries. They are pain free with the help of meds and sleeping soundly. Surgeon said there was no doubt that both needed it and would greatly benefit. As for me, once they were on the peds floor, I lost my way for the day and for the first time in over four months I had sugar and simple carbs -- and LOTS of them. Odd thing was that I was right on track beforehand, BS crashed (stress?) and I spiraled big time from there. My plan for tomorrow, which I WILL stick to, is 800 calories and only protein shakes and two workouts. That should kick my butt BOTT! Anyway, I logged what I ate on MFP, or most of it anyway, and my sis will see it for accountability. Tomorrow is a new day and I'm heading to bed (will have to wake kids up twice at night for meds but we'll all fall quickly back to sleep I'm sure.

Glad to hear that everything went as planned, and the kids are doing well.  My heart always goes out to kids in hospitals, ever since I did my pediatric rotation in nursing school.  They can look so lost, and vulnerable...but at least the parents have more say now than they did then (31 yrs ago) and can be included in the plan of care.  Plus, the babes don't have to stay as long.  Hope you all rest well tonight.

So glad that the babies did great!  Anything that knocks my regular routine out of whack sets me up for a sugar crash day.  Something about needing that instant gratification that sugar gives.  You will be back on track tomorrow.

Good evening, BOTT friends,

Rainy day off and on here too, Tess...especially this evening.  Spent the day trying to get some relief from this new back pain, and have appt. scheduled for tomorrow.  This new pain isn't covered by workers comp, so I will be seeing an associate of my PCP since she is on vacation.  I am almost convinced it is another fracture, even though I don't remember any trauma to the area (except my fall a few weeks ago).  But I do have a large bone spur on my thoracic spine, so that could be the reason.

Suffice to say that my bike workout wasn't done tonight, but that's ok.  I'm lying in bed reading and watching TV, trying not to move around too much.  Today I ate:

B:  4 strips turkey bacon, 3/4 c fresh strawberries with 6 ozs Light & Fit yogurt

S:  Quest protein bar (ate 3/4), 7 natural almonds

L:  6 ozs grilled chicken breast, 1/2 c green beans

S:  protein shake made with SF vanilla International coffee

D:  4 ozs lean beef burger on sandwich thin, 1 slice ultra thin cheddar, mustard, 1 tbsp ketchup, 7 grape tomatoes

Have a good night friends :)

I hope it is not a fracture.  Hopefully, if will be some kind of muscle that is acting up that is causing the pain in that area.  Just take it easy and let the pain dictate the workout.

it was a fantastically beautiful day here on the central coast of california today. it was a good day. i got up, walked 3 miles in the neighborhood. it's a beautiful neighborhood. los osos, ca is one of the most beautiful places there is! if anyone ever comes to california, check it out! i look out my window and see the morro bay rock ... it's a breathtaking view.

food for my day today ...

first things first: coffee with fat free half and half

breakfast: blueberry greek yogurt

snack: cheese stick

lunch: protein bar

snack: protein shake

dinner: 4 oz sliced turkey and cheese stick

snack: blueberry greek yogurt

i know i have to get more creative ... i'm trying to eat mostly protein. i also had 100 oz of water ... i did somehow manage to go up 1.5 pounds, not really sure how, but i am not going to let it deter me, or bring me down. i notice EVERY time i start doing any exercise i actually stop losing weight! i don't know how it's possible, but i'm going to work through it. i know it can't be that i'm building muscle ... i'm fairly muscular to begin with, and i've only been walking for 2 days anyway. whatever, i'm going to keep going.

i'm glad your children are doing well. i have a little boy (5) who had cancer about 3 months after i got him (we are his legal guardians) and he had the tumor removed from his leg on his second birthday. he's doing great! no cancer and a really good little boy. i love him so much, he's actually the reason i had the sleeve done. i couldn't get up from the floor when i was playing with him.

anyway,

have a great night.

Going back to exercise at the beginning will make you retain water for the first few days.  You should have a 1 to 2 pound lost at the end of the first week.  Your menu looks great, very protein forward.  Keep it up and don't let those scales dictate how you feel.  You are doing a great job!
