I am back at work after a week recovery from surgery.   As most of you know I was dealing with pain after eating for close to a year and after trying all that I could think off, I beg my doc to go in and check.   He did.  He found a small hernia and some adhesion and twists.  He did no think that should caused that much pain, but it has been a week post op and so far I have not have one major pain from eating. And I ate meat and veggies and got constipated from the pain meds (normal) and so far no one major pain attack. (in the past I would get stabbing pains at least once a day if I ate real foods)  So far so good. Lets hope that would continue.

Overall - I was scared to get on a scale on Sunday.. I was sure I gained bunch of weight - all the steroids and the food and lack of movement - but the scale was nice to me and the most it show a couple of lbs that I gained when I started the hormones replacement (water retention that helps my BP)  So at the end - my weight is the same as I went into the surgery... and I am still swollen - so I hope the couple of lbs will eventually disappear.

eats today:

Coffee and coconut milk
green protein shake
meat and veggies
cheese and pickles
nuts or nut butter, protein shake
dinner: not sure - maybe egg-veggies frittata or something else...

Dessert: whipped cream..

all my vits and water...

So glad that you are feeling better.  It does not take much to make us miserable.  Just ease into different foods to make sure that they don't make you hurt when you eat.  Good news on the few extra pounds.  You will have them off in no time at all.

so glad you are feeling better and that you forced your doctor to go look!!  Hernia's can be painful and so can the "twist".  Plus if the intestine get "stuck" in the hernia, it can cause the intestine to die....so I'm so glad you got this taken care of!!  You will feel so much better now and you will have to really watch your intake now that you won't have the pain anymore!!!  Keep up the good work!

Thanks Debra.

I just wanted to let you know what is going on with me overall...  since I am here on and off once a week...

This was a 3rd hernia surgery for me since RNY... I hope it is the last one.

I know what you mean abou****ch what and how much I eat.  But I think that the pain caused me to eat more calories overall.  Also - for me to be able to eat before I could do that while drinking wine or hard stuff.   Not good for long term weight loss... but the alcohol allowed my guts to relax and the pain was much less or none all together.  Weird.  And at the end I was just scared to eat veggies or meat... so I lived on nuts, nut butter, wine and protein shakes.  Whipped cream would stay well. but fruits would hurt ( not right away - but later).  So I was hungry most of the time...   When I would go into  spasms - the wine would allow things to let go... like bad cramps.  That or pain pills - but with wine - the food would finally move - and with the pain pills - when they would wear off - the pain was worse than before.  As if something was "stuck" in there.    Now - for you  guys not to worry too much - I only allowed myself to eat and drink wine on weekends. During weekdays I would drink protein shakes and eat nuts and egg drop home made soups.    That was all I could eat with no pain later on.    And food eaten one day - would start hurting a few hrs later... not right away... so it felt like something was "stuck" insid emy gut...

Now I look forward to eat real food - some veggies, some meat... get full on one cup of food and stay full for couple of hours. Not grazing on nuts and nut butters...

I do follow a pretty good RNY diet - over last 5 years I developed more sugar and carbs sensitivity - including severe RH- so most of "bad foods" do not appeal to me... I got sick way to much on that.   I also decided to go gluten free to limit the gas and RH and discomfort - pain. So I was eating very good and healthy... still getting severe RH and pains.

Now if I can eat meat and eggs and veggies - I would be in heaven.

I do maintain pretty well... not weight wise- but size...  I am currently size 6-8-10, and with my age - that size looks OK on me.

But as we all know - we are never thin enough and all of us want to lose that last 10 lbs.

I know I would like to lose 10 lbs - but I really need to get more fit and get more muscles. My back is all flabby and I have some fat back. More than at the front... (the nurse used my side- fat to give me blood thinners before surgery - she told me there was not enough fat on my belly)

In the last year I could not exercise due to RH and severe hypoglycemia. But now since month ago I was diagnosed with SAI (secondary adrenal insufficiency) and was put on cortisone replacement therapy (just to supplement since my body does not make enough)  I am slowly getting used to normal BP and normal BS.   I know I will be able to exercise... the time is what I need now...

Hugs and love see you posting...

Had a wonderful weekend with lots of family visiting. Four-year-old's graduation from preschool and celebration was sweet, fun, happy. Even our two-year-old performed three songs with her class. What a hoot! Dropped 1/2 a pound finally! Not plateauted any more and not a great loss but I'll take anything at this point! That made it 30 pounds lost. Two more (next goal) and I'll be where I was when I got pregnant in '08.

B protein coffee
S quest bar (switching this from eve to morning snack has really zapped hunger)
L ham & Swiss bites, peppers, Ranch dressing
D Caesar salad (romaine, mushrooms, chicken, Parmesan, dressing on side
S almonds

Did 50 minutes on the treadmill, 15 cups fluids in
