Hi butrflygrl!
I'm new to this Group too, but wanted to Welcome you!..
A couple things I do or suggest.... I use www.myfitnesspal.com on my cellphone and online to track all my food, water, and exercise. It's a great site! .. I also track my weigh-ins here and have a small support group of friends on FB. :) I've found that my support groups are my biggest and most important tool!
My Fitness Pal will also give you a calorie / carb goal. I personally take what they recommend and cut the carbs in half. I lose the best when I'm doing something high protein and low carb.
As far as vitamins go - I take daily: Multiple Vitamin (pill), Vit D chewable (gummy), B-Complex (pill), Folic Acid (pill), Calcium (pill - there's a specific kind the calcium needs to be.. but I can't remember it off the top of my head), and as an addition for myself Ive also been taking a Green Coffee Extract supplement (pure green coffee-no added crap that they try to sell in stores). The Green Coffee is supposed to help with weight loss (which I haven't really noticed a difference with), but I mostly take it because it helps regulate my blood sugar. I'm hypoglycemic and the Green Coffee has aided greatly in keeping me from having any major drops. :)
I hope this helps a little!.. I'm already finding there are some great people on this Group to help out with advice!
I am 3 years out, too (5.25.10) and went from 310 to 155 and have creeped back up to 199. My dietician set my original goal at 170, and I would like to get down to that again. Through my hospital where I had surgery, they have a great support team...facebook, online forum, weekly pep-rallies, monthly support groups, and classes. I am currently in the "Back to Basics" class. The first 4 weeks were psychological aspects and the last 4 are nutrition.
Tonight we went over "the daily plate" and for woman, the average calorie intake is 1200 a day, and protein should be between 60g-75g daily. I have more information that I could scan and email you if you'd like. Send me a message with your email, if you like me to send it too you.
Ann

Ann, I would love for you to email me the support information. I am two year out of RNY. I loss 113 pounds, but have put 10 pounds back in the past 6 months. I don't want to go back. My email address is [email protected]. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am doing fitness pal, try to stay below 1000 calories, I know carbs are my down fall. I love fruit, but the doctor said it has to many carbs. What does your doctor say about fruit?
Thanks
Kim

Yep, I gained back weight too, even more than the 50 lbs!! 1/2012 I made a "lifestyle" change. I changed from exsisting to "Live to Live! I did it 1 change at a time...and it took me a little over a year.
1. stopped smoking and gave myself a big pass on everything else. Didn't care about it, said I would rather die from fat than smoke. Gained lots of weight but atleast I could breath.
2. 6 months later, stopped drinking diet pepsi switched to Crystal Light. Again, gave myself a pass on everything else
3. 2 months later, stopped drinking Crystal Light, and switched to water only. Still only concentrating on not smoking not drinking pepsi and only drinking water.
4. 1/2014 - Concentrated on eating better foods, Still gave myself a pass on all the calories, I ate as much as I wanted as long as the food was quality, and still allowed myself all the crap snacks.
5. 3/2014 - Took my pass away. Stll no smoking, no diet pepsi, no crystal light. NO MORE UNHEALTHY SNACKS, ALLOWED MYSELF 1300 CALORIES PER DAYAND I BEGAN WALKING 30 MINUTES EVERY MORNING.!
I am proud to report that since 3/7/2012 I have gone from walking 30 minutes at 1.8 mph to 2.5 mph, some days I eat more than I think I should because my calorie count is below 1000 and I dont want my body to go into stravation mode (imagine having to make yourself eat more) and I have lost 24 lbs in 2 months the correct way, in a sensible manner.
I log everything that goes into my mouth, and I mean everything. Logging helps me be concious of what is going in and helps me to make food choices. It makes me ask that burning question, "Do I want this 120 calorie Hersey bar that just fits in my hand and will take me about 3 mintues to eat or would I rather have a big ole salad with lots of turkey deli meats and fat free ranch dressing that will take me 30 minutes to eat and is only 120 calories?" I have only decided on the chocolate once..because I was still wanting more 30 minutes later while if I had that big ole salad, I'm stuffed for 2 hrs when it's time for a snack..hahahahah
So that's my story and I"m sticking to it. Protein protein protein, you have to get in plenty of protein..and a few good servings of veggies. Oh..and I don't eat "processed" food other then progresso soups and even then nothing "cream of" and I don't do the pasta.
Bottom line you have to find a "diet" and exercise program that is going to work for you and then make your changes 1 step at a time. Learn to LIVE to LIVE!
