Shirataki noodles

So, I've been exploring, looking at recipes, food ideas, etc.

My Nurse Practitioner friend at work is doing the "Wheat Belly" diet - which is appears to be another form of a low carb diet.

Anyhow, I was looking at the recipes in her "Wheat Belly diet" book and they had the shirataki noodles listed for use in making all kinds of pastas.   Sooo..I proceeded to Google and looked them up.

This is what I found through Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirataki_noodles

I found some nutritional info on them too and a serving ranges from 5 calories to 20 calories.   The carbs are low as can be as well.

There's no protein benefit to these - but they might be awesome as a base for some meaty type recipes! ..

Has anyone tried these?    Wikipedia gives a few different ways to cook them and I'd probably go for the 'dry roast' method myself.

I'm thinking I may need to discover where they are and give them a go. :)

I did a lot of research on these, and after reading several positive reviews at netrition.com, I ordered 2 pkgs of the Miracle Noodle brand, 2 of the Miracle Rice (same main ingredient) and 2 of the Dukan brand of shirataki noodles.  Looks like there are several benefits to eating these noodles, from fullness after meals, to higher satiety, high fiber, lowering cholesterol and it benefits diabetics by slowing the digestive process through " lower absorption of glucose which requires slower release of insulin from the pancreas, which aids in the normalization of blood glucose after eating a meal".

There's  ZERO calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, protein, and

Don't know what just happened to my post, but it was cut short for some reason.  Another member had the same thing happen a few days ago.  Anyway, I don't feel like re-posting, but what's printed was the gist of what I had to say.  Looks like a lot of benefit to the noodles, and if you're interested, just check out any site that sells them, read the package info (ZERO cals, fat, cholesterol, protein, sodium and

Did you just order them Sheila? Or are you going to be getting them soon to try?    If just ordered - you must must post an update and let me know what you think when you get them!

I'm having funky problems with the board too - earlier I couldn't post at all - it would just give me a big grey square where I should be able to post.

I had a problem with "the big grey square" Sunday night...daughter finally fixed it, but don't ask me how, lol.  I just ordered them this afternoon, and should have them hopefully before the weekend.  I had posted I would try them as soon as I receive them, but you can't see it. Go figure.

I'm going to make spaghetti sauce and also try it with a beef or chicken stir-fry this weekend.  I'll be sure to let you know :)

Awesome!.. I can't wait to hear!

I'm going to either order some or find some soon. Finances are little tight right now.  I'm going to try the dry-roasting method if I can only find them/order them in the 'wet' version.     The Wikipedia website explains how to do the dry-roast method - suppose to make them more noodle texture.
