Back On Track Together
Need Help in a bad way...
Gosh, I had RNY surgery on April 2006 and lost everything I could. Exaclty 190 pounds. I even went through a divorce in December 2009, kept it off, had a baby in 2011 and gained only 10 pounds. Now a little over a year I have gained 30 pounds. I need to get back on track. I have all sorts of cravings and forgot the things I did after surgery. Can anyone help me remember and do you have advice for me to get this weight gone? I also have an incisional hernia the size of a grapefruit in my abdomen. Met with a plastic surgeon to have it repaired and do a tummy tuck but I didn't want the TT until I lost all my weight and maybe more if feasible. Any advice would help.
Thanks in advance.

Read back through some of the posts on here. You'll find there are a number of us in the very same boat. Some are doing the 5 day pouch test with tremendous success. Go back to basics...protein, protein, protein, lots of water and don't forget your vitamins. It sounds like your life has changed a lot in the past few years. Have you had labs drawn lately? Make sure you've got some time to focus on you ---that stress monster can give us lots of opportunities to revert back to our old eating habits.
Good Luck!!

Yeah, I have had a lot of changes in my life over the last 3 years and just this past year I started gaining like crazy. I will attribute it to not eating correctly, Stopped taking my vitamins and am severely anemic. I do need my labs drawn because it has been a while since they were done. I know I stay tired constantly. Just left CVS and bought some Biotin, Calcium, multivitamins and protein powder. I don't even remember what vitamins I need to be taking since I haven't taken any in so long. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there blueEyes:
Sounds like life got in the way and you gotten off the path. First thing, you need calcium citrate 500 mg three times a day, a really good multi vitamin 600 mg. 2 times a day, carbon iron supplement, b12 supplement, vitamin D supplement at least 5,000 a day until you get your labs drawn. These are just the minimum you need to start feeling better. You need to up your protein with a good whey powder to at least 80 grams a day. To really get serious about dropping the weight gain, I reduced my calories to 800 calories a day, 100 grams of protein a day, 50 net carbs or less a day. Weather should be getting nicer soon, so take the baby out for a daily stroll. Don't wait too long on the hernia surgery, I have had this surgery twice. Once by itself and once with a tummy tuck. A hernia can actually get into a strangulation and died and so can you so have it checked out soon. I would probably have the hernia surgery first. Then lose the remainder of my weight which most plastic surgeons want you to and be at the same weight for at least six months before I have a tummy tuck. Time is flying so you will get there sooner than you think.
Tess, Thank you for the advice. I definatly wanted to loose the weight before having this surgery. My surgeon was out of the country when I had it so I wonder what I need to tell my MD to order. Also, I bought several vitamins yesterday to get started and today I started that 5 day pouch test to get back on track. I did really good today and even managed to drink all I can.
