Back On Track Together
How to stop cravings?
You know, the 5DPT is very helpful, but not necessary to get you back on track. I take it you and your parents live together? If a "heart to heart" won't produce any results, maybe you can find a way to separate your healthy foods and snacks from what they consume.
Lean protein, lower carb vegetables, and lots of water should start you going in the right direction. Try Tess' advice about upping your protein, using bars and shakes if you have problems eating that much. Try to stay away from high calorie snacks, sugared sodas and other sugary foods, and lower your fat intake.
If you can store non-perishables in your bedroom away from the shelves where they keep the "bad stuff", even better. Out of sight, out of mind.
And if you can incorporate exercise, that will increase losses and add to your motivation.
Plan and cook your own meals if possible, and when they are eating the not so good for you stuff, show them what healthy eating looks like. If you don't have the willpower to avoid the sight or aromas of their food, eat alone. I find that staying in my room when I'm home, and not downstairs where the kitchen and fridge is, helps me tremendously. Go for walks, read, call a friend, POST ON BOTT :), anything that will distract you from wanting what they have on hand, is helpful.
And if you MUST have it, just a couple bites...to say you gave in, but you were not defeated. Then start over again with the next meal.
I am still working on that problem as many of us are, and it will probably always be that way. We always want what we can't have, but is it always worth the sacrifice? There are many things to be said here, and you've probably heard it all...the list goes on and on (sorta like this post
I hope you find the encouragement you need to start over, and don't label yourself as a failure. There's help available, and this is a great place to start.
