Back On Track Together
Sunday, March 10th, Cardio & Cafe
Good Morning Yall!! I went to bed early last night in an attempt to avoid the time change drain. Today won't be to bad but this first week or two is horrid. The older I get, the worse it gets. I normally get 8 hours every night (10 p.m. til 6 a.m.) I'm amazed at what the slightest variation does to that rhythm.
My eats today are planned but the hard part today is going to be sticking to it. I've got a birthday dinner for my father-in-law at lunch time. Then Sunday dinner at my Mom's house tonight at supper time. I know I can make good choices at both BUT I feel out of control when I'm not the one who cooks. I know my MIL will be frying whatever she cooks and vegetables will be swimming in cheese and/or butter and there will be a bread basket. (Very southern) Moma's house will be more friendly. Whatever meat (most likely beef) she cooks will be roasted and there will be lots of green vegetables.
Wake Up: 1 large coffee
Breakfast: Vanilla Protein & Banana Smoothie
Lunch: Chicken (minus the skin) Deviled eggs & lima beans
snack: Click Smoothie
Dinner: Roast Beef & Green beans
Lots of Decaf iced tea today. Just have to avoid the desserts and tastes of this and that at each place for dinner. As an early post-op I focused more on being the hostess at these events and simply enjoyed the company of those present.....that's my plan again today.

Good Morning BOTT,
Yesterday was a beautiful day, here's hoping today is just as nice. In October 2012 I embarked on a journey that if anyone had suggested it I would have laughed hysterically. I joined a running group, yes a running group. Well, in November 2012 I ran my first (3 miles) 5K. I had been training and getting ready for an 8k and then a half marathon in April 2013. Well, it's not going to happen. About 3-4 weeks ago I had a bad fall injuring my left knee and while the Dr. says I can, my knee and my body is saying NO!!!!
I'm anxious to get back out on the track. My birthday is on March 29th and I would love to run/walk which ever my knee allows to do 6 miles to celebrate by 64th birthday. I'm hoping that with the help of extra-strength Tylenol and a knee brace I'll be able to get it in.
My eating plan for today is:
EM-EAS Chocolate Protein Shake
Breakfast-2 slices of Turkey Bacon - Oatmeal
Snack-Atkins Chocolate Crisp Protein Bar
Lunch-
Dinner-
I'm getting back in the walking habit. I had gotten so good about it and just sort of fell away. I walked a 10K two years ago. There are a bunch of 5ks coming up in my local area over the next few months. I think if I go ahead and commit to at least a couple of them it would be all the motivation I need. I have to walk them...my knees just wont agree to the running.
I'm sure you'll find a great way to celebrate your birthday.

Good evening BOTT friends,
All of this talk about walking is really getting me stirred. I had my treadmill moved upstairs to my bedroom this weekend so when I can work out on it again, I'll have it right there in my room. Question is when I will be given the ok to use it. I suffered a spinal fracture at work on Halloween (my favorite holiday) last yr, and I am STILL out from work, but things are finally looking up. No paralysis or anything like that...just a back brace for 12 wks and 3 invasive procedures of my spinal column, including injecting surgical cement into the fractured vertebra.
So I am just waiting for the go-ahead to return to walking on my treadmill, and to my passion, which is FISHING!
Today I ate:
B: protein shake
S: Light & Fit yogurt and 12 almonds
L: 1 cup tuna salad with lettuce, 5 cherry tomatoes and dill pickle spear
D: sauteed lemon pepper haddock and 1/2 cup cabbage
Hope everyone had a pleasant Sunday and sweet dreamzzzz!
