Back On Track Together

Temptation...

Good Morning BOTT,

Trying to get back on track is difficult enough, but the Easter candy is out of control in my office.  I've even come back from lunch and found little mini pieces on my desk.  Do I have to be mean, throw it out in front of them or ask nicely...plese don't leave candy on my desk? How do you deal with your candy gremlins?

If you know who it was - simply return the candies to them and tell them thank you, but that you can't have any. Or you can send him/her an email.

If that happens again - I would throw them in a trash.  If I have - get candies - I can always put them in another place I have limited access to or just give them away.

Just slip them in a sealed envelope so they don't tempt you and at the end of the day ask a co-worker if she/he would like to take them home to their children or just slip them in the garbage can.  People are just generally nice and don't really think about folks watching their weight as much as not wanting to slight anyone in their giving.  I am guilty of that myself.  Have a great day.

If you have the control, you can keep a candy dish with sugar free candies on your desk or a fruit bowl. Folks seem to take the visual hint and some will assume that you're diabetic and apologize for having left the unhealthy stuff.

In our office we keep the candy bowl away from the high traffic areas and you have to actually want to got to where it is.

You may want to consider regifting your candy.

I agree with Tess, Just quickly get it out of sight and ignore it.  The more  offended you feel the more obsessed you will become and before you know it you will have eaten it and then you'll be blaming the giver for your caving in.  I am sure no one is purposefully sabotaging your eating plan, they are just trying to be nice.  I don't usually let people know I am dieting.  I just eat what I bring and no one notices.  The more diet conversation going on the more obsessed I get with food and I don't want my focus to go there.  So just smile, say thank you, and get it out of sight.

Hi Dreamgirl!

How have you been doing?  It's been awhile...  I occasionally check in, but not too many people are on.  Hope that all is going well with you.  I should probably start tracking again.  I've been doing pretty well, watching what I'm eating.  I'm about 12 lbs. from my personal goal.  I've been planning my foods the day ahead of time.  I'll be checking in to see how your doing.

You know that you can beat those candy gremlins!

Hi Deb,

So good to see you, I am doing well health wise, but my eating sucks.  It seems like I can eat just about anything I want...bad!!  Back here trying to get it together. I know that I can do it!!!
