Back On Track Together
Packing Meals to Go
I went back to college this year. I will be commuting to another campus and will be gone from 8 to 5 daily. I am tired of packing the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and a snack. I am curious as to what is your favorite things to pack for breakfast, lunch, and a snack. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephanie E
Well, I have actually the same thing every day during the work week for breakfast however, a change up on my fruits I add to it. In the mornings right after I wake up I make a Fruit smoothie so I can put it in the freezer for about a hour to an hour and a half. The bases of my smoothie is always:
8oz of Diet V8 Splash - Tropical Blend
2 scoops of Vanilla Protein Powder by Body Fortress, Super Advance Whey Protein (52 grams of protein)
1/3 of a frozen Banana
Than I may add two additional frozen fruit about a 1/2 cup in total a combo of fruit could be:
Strawberry/Mango; Blueberry/Peach; Blackberries/Apricots; Papaya/Pineapple...and the list goes on. I make a different combo everyday....I have about 10/12 different fruits frozen not including the banana to choice from. And with freezing my drin****il I am ready to leave my apartment. It's just starting to defrost by the time I get to work in the morning and I commute 45 minutes door to door.
My snacks: I always pack two protein bars. I do Balance protein bars I have 30 days worth (I purchase $30 worth from my local store at $0.99 cents each monthly) in my fridge along with 30 days worth of the Atkins Protein Bars. They have a lot of new ones I've come across and I purchase from Walmart online with my Whey protein. They have ones like Chocolate Hazelnut Bar; Cashew Trail Mix Bar; Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch Bar, Cherry Pecan Bar, etc.....the protein range from 5, 7, 9, 10, and 15. I tend to have a Balance bar as a mid morning snack and the Atkins Bar in the late afternoon. There are times I may just have a 1/4 cup of peanuts or almond in the late afternoon or Biscotti when I place a new order from mybariatricpantry.com
Lunch can be simple a cup of protein soup from mybariatricpantry.com (cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, chicken with pasta) where I just have to add 8 to 6 oz of ho****er and a sandwich of lean meat on a 100 cal sandwich bread. Or, it could be 4 oz of protein with a simple salad using Goya salad seasoning and not salad dressing. Or 1/4 cup of cooked rice (brown or white) and some type of protein (steamed fish, grilled jerk chicken, etc) I normally pack my lunch everyday and on Friday's I treat myself to a Tuna Sub from Subways.
I hope this helps!
