Yoyo Dieting

I was just thinking--have you ever gained and gotten back to your starting weight and thought "I seem more fatty and squishy this time."

I wonder if there is any truth to this. Are our bodies slightly greater in body fat than before?

yes, it is possible.  A lot of time when we lose weight - we may lose fat and muscles. If that happens and then we just gain weight by eating ( and not exercising to increase muscle mass) we may gain just fat so overall - we get more "fluffy"and squashier and even bigger size at the same weight (fat takes more space - it is less dense than muscles).

i.e. a woman at 250 lbs may have 45% body fat. 9That is 113 lbs is fat and 132 lbs is lean body mass)

She loses 100 lbs and 70% of that is fat and 30 % muscles...(70 lbs fat and 30 lbs muscle loss) At the new weight - say 150 lbs she woudl be 28% body fat (and that is good)

but if she gains back just fat - and gains back the 100 lbs suddenly her body fat % at the "new"" 250 lbs is 57% or... instead of original 113 lbs of fat - now she has 142 lbs of fat to carry and less muscles to carry it around.

yo-yo dieting - when there is o increase in muscle mass - will make a person bigger and fatter, making it more difficult to lose weight.
