On a 21 day restart!

I will be out of town on the 21st, so I thought I'd share today. On nov. 1st I pushed the restart button.... Last year I did well and lost 40 of the 80 pounds I re-gained, but over the summer I fell so far off the wagon it rolled over me, lol. This month I had NO sugar, bread, cake, pie, cookies, rice, pasta or anything like that. I am feeling better and have lost 8 pounds. I will eat for thanksgiving and go back on, this time I will start counting carbs and exercising. I will keep you guys posted.

Pre surgery 300 lbs, lowest after 175 lbs, re-gain highest 249 lbs, current 211 lbs, goal 170 lbs!

Good to hear you are doing so well. I do follow low carb diet all the time for the last 4- 5 months.  I found out the hard way that post op RNY - eating some carbs makes me crave them more and gain weight. I cut grains, most other starches and even fruits. I do eat some carbs - in nuts and seeds or non-starchy veggies, The only starchy foods that are use sparingly is squash - and I incorporate that with my meats and with other non-starchy veggies.

removing the sugars and starches fro my diet not only helped my weight - but also limits any RH or low blood sugar issues. Now I can exercise and I can be without food for a few hours.  I may get hungry if I do not eat - but I don't get the low blood sugars - at least lately. I can sleep all night - and do not wake up in a middle of the night due to low blood sugar.

I know that I could lose weight, but currently - I do not need to limit how much or how often I eat - as long as I do not eat too many carbs. And my weight is rather stable, so is my size.

Good luck.

I find that I do best on around 100 gm. of net carbs.  I don't count the fiber carbs because that doesn't get absorbed.  Most fruits are ok because some (apples and pears) have soluble fiber and the fiber helps them digest slower.  I usually only eat 2 fruits a day and they are filling.  I was eating 2 for snacks in the morning and they made me too hungry, so that doesn't work.  I eat a lot of veggies because they don't bother me.  I found that wine gives me RH so then I have to eat more.  Congratulations on the 8 lbs.  I would love to lose even 1 lb.  Keep us posted.  Happy Thanksgiving.  Tri
