10 Post op and struggling

I am nearly ten years post op and struggling badly to get this extra weight off!  I regained weight due to mostly steroids, but lets be honest and some poor eating choices.  My main problem is that I am just not hungry most of the time.  I can go all day without eating.  And when I do it's not what I should be eating.  So I am going back to the basics!  I am going to start by making sure I get my protein in first and not drinking while eating.  I too would rather drink than eat and I know that all protein is not the same.  I would rather drink my protein shake than eat actual protein.  So any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

Hi Stephanie.
I have days that eating do not appeal to me. Days like that - I do drink protein shakes. But i make them with unsweet almond or coconut milk, and I make sure that I get enough proteins for the day (for me that would be 120-150 gr a day - based on my blood work - and the fact that I follow mostly low carb - high protein - moderate fat diet.)

When last time you had blood work done? it is important to make sure your test are good.  Don't forget about vitamins and minerals.

When I am not hungry - or don't feel like eating - I still try to get at lest 5-6 "meals" a day.  If i don't  -then when evening come - I may make the bad choices... But if I eat - or drink my food all day long - then in the  evening it is easier (not easy) to make good choices.

Drinking water - flavored - or tea (herbal or green tea) - I make sure I get - stay hydrated.

welcome back Stephanie! you will find great support here. i hope you post often and let us know how you are doing. i understand about drinking your protein. i love slider foods. heavy protein foods like tuna salad, steak, chicken, all feel heavy when i eat them. and i cannot eat a lot of them BUT when i do- i stay full for hours. the protein is the key for sure. i used to drink with meals too when eating out. now make it a point to not drink at all with them or after.

i hover around the same 185 lb mark, my lowest was 158 and I was a size 4. I had regain to 170, then got pregnant. My baby is 1 year old today!! And I am still not back in my smalls. But I am not exercising at all and that is my problem. good luck to you
