My weekly update:

I am still following  a low carb diet. That works very well for me. No low sugars even if I do not eat every few hours. I am not hungry and I even lost 2 lbs without exercising much.

I just finished my last iron infusion, and the 4 weeks were tough. I do not remember them being that difficult the last time, but then again last year I had them 4 day in one week so if I had any side effects - they did not lasted that long nor did I knew that the iron caused that.
This year  - with one day a week iron - I had the same issue every week and bu the time my body was getting over them - I had another infusion.

Some of the side effects includes steroids high and then low, indigestion then acid rebound (after IV antacid) abdominal cramps and of course constipation - which combined with cramps and indigestion is not a good thing.
I know it may take me a few more days to get back to normal. For now I am waking up almost every day with sore throat and acid reflex.

I sure hope that my iron and ferritin will be up high enough so I do not have to deal with that again anytime soon.

Eats will be simple again for a few days:

coffee + coconut milk
protein shake
proteins pudding
egg drop soup
protein pudding or yogurt with proteins.
cheese
tziatziki sauce with some cheese...

I guess a sign of frustration and simply accepting the fact that it is impossible to lose weight eating regular food after a rny.  I have watched people try time and again and the only people that lose weight do so on protein drinks, bars etc.  So I will fast off of regular food as long as I can and eat protein "candy bars". as many days as possible  This was not what I expected when I signed up for RNY surgery.  My nutritionist gave me a diet with fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy etc. at a pre op visit.  I ate food in the hospital and never heard of protein drinks until my surgery failed 4 months post op and I googled "rny support" on the internet and found this web site.  I had never heard of eating like everyone does here.  Clear liquids for weeks and protein drinks for months.  If she would have said I would live on protein drinks and protein bars I would have never had the surgery.  I would have just eaten them and skipped the surgery.  So I surrender and join the group many years post op.  Even after my revision no one in my surgeon's office talked about protein supplements.  Hugs back.  Just me

HUGS.
Sorry ,,, I know it is frustrating.

I do drink some protein shakes because my proteins are low normal even on 120-150 gr of proteins. (with shakes).  I have a very hard time with food in the morning.
And now I do shakes because my pouch hates me (due to stupid iron infusions) and the shake does not cause indigestion.

But - I do follow a  very strict diet - low carbs and no / or very limited - fruits and any grains.   I used to eat fruits and protein bars - but my B Sugar was very unstable.  And when I tried to limit food qty or calories - my BSugar would drop and I had to eat carbs.
Since I adopted the low carb diet - I can eat as much as I want to - and I can go for hrs without eating if I have to.   That is a major achievement for me.  I used to crash if I did not eat every 3 hrs.

I also hate the RNY - if I knew what would it take to maintain or even lose a few lbs (very slow now) I also would skip the RNY.   The only different now is that some of the foods that would make me gain weight can make me so violently ill - that they lost all appeal.

Be aware that some - if not all protein bars may have more carbs than they state  - and if you eat them - you may not lose the weight anyway.

I know Tess does great with Quest bars - while I gained weight when I substituted 1 or 2 meals with that bar.  Then I found out that I dumped on those bars and that they were one of the main reasons for my severe RH (reactive hypoglycemia ) episodes - to me that means that they have more sugar or easily digestible carbs that the company wants us to believe.

HUGS...I hope you find what works for you...

I hope you do not mind me saying that: I read your posts and eating and was jealous that you could eat that. I was saying to myself: she does not eat a lot but if I ate what she does I would star gaining.  I was glad it was  working for you. I guess not so much - huh? Sorry...
