I have such a hard time getting in my fiber without my carbs going through the roof and the same with getting in protein without uping the fat and calories.  What are you favorite food ....

High fiber/low card

High protein/ low cal and low fat

 Good Morning:

I eat a lot of high protein, high fiber protein bars.  I also add benefiber to my shakes and oatmeal and flax seed.  I eat a lot of chicken and very lean beef that is not high in fat and calories.  My carbs almost daily stay under 100 net grams by doing this.  If I watch every mouth full, I can get my carbs down below 50 net grams which is great for losing weight.  Right now, I am more in the maintenance phase but I still would like to lose 10 more pounds if possible.

Thank you I really want to lose about 35lbs.  I need the accountability to do this because I was only 10lbs away from goal and have gone up 25lbs.  I hate being the cliche.

There are 2 kinds of fiber.  Soluble, like Metamucil, oatmeal and apples that turn to gel in your intestines.  It grabs onto cholesterol and removes it from your body.  Also there is insoluble fiber (roughage) which keeps things moving along but does not get absorbed.  I take my carbs and subtract the fiber to give me the absorbed carbs because if it goes through me it doesn't affect my blood sugar.  Also the assorted sugars affect me differently.  Milk and yogurt have lactose (ups my BS) but cheeses don't have lactose (sugar).  Fruit has fructose (sugar) but as long as it isn't juice the extra fiber keeps my BS stable.  Wheat has carbs but if it is whole wheat it is easier on my BS.  White flour is only one step below sugar and high fructose corn syrup is even harder on my blood sugar levels than just plain sugar.

I have to watch my protein as well because my kidneys are affected from too much protein.  I can't eat protein bars and protein shakes because my protein levels go too high.  They don't fill me up either.  They sure do taste great though...a real treat.

I eat a lot of fruits and veggies and whole fiber.  Yams rather than russets.  Fat free cheese.  Chicken and turkey.  Plain Greek yogurt.

Sometimes it is impossible to follow the "rules" and I do the best I can in the situation.  Sometimes I make really poor food choices...oh well!  I pay the price with RH and weight gain.

Exercise releases a hormone that helps us burn fat and it helps the cells be less resistant to the sugar trying to get from the blood stream into the cell.
