I have sooooooooooooo needed to get BOT!!
Today marks 9 years 9 months since my RNY...........so much has happened, bad and good......
The good is I lost 113 pounds - the bad is I gained 40 back...........
Today, I gave myself my first B12 shot and it was a breeze...I also started 50000 units of Vitamin D - if I can get past the exhaustion I have had over the last few years I am going to lose this 40...
at least I have weighed exactly the same for 2 years...
I think I could become a B12 junkie...I cant believe I never would do it before today........no more having to go to the doctor every month..........
I am going to get back on track once and for all!!

Welcome!!  I am curious about your exhaustion, do you feel that leads you to eat, or eat things you maybe shouldn't?  Has the supplements helped?  I don't have much for advice on what to do, I really hope others chime in, but I did find that if I am tired I gain, so I am here looking for tips as well.  I have found that I let a lot of non-healthy things back in my life, like chocolate, really who needs it? But Lordy I want it! When I fill on protien, then veggies and lose the junk I do better, but it has been slow and very discouraging. I hope I am not done, and that I will reach my goal, but somedays I am so tired I don't care if I do.  I am very low iron which if i could raise that i am sure it will help.  Why did you go to the B12 shots?  Where do you think you need to improve?  More questions than answers, sorry

Welcome to the group. I also do B12 shot. Now I am up to one a week less than that did not cut it.
Watch for 50,000 D3. Make sure you test your D in 2-4 months so you don't get too much. I was taking that much daily for 3 months and got way too much. So now I take 2-3 times a week.
Also proteins and hydration is important. Lets not forget iron and B1.

Hey darning -
now it is time to start posting. It keeps some of us accountable for our food and exercise.

I am in a similar place 4 years out and tired a lot. How do you get the b12 shots from the doctor?
I think if I can boost my enegy level I would be craving so much carbs.

First step would be blood work to check your B-12, vit D, iron, etc. levels.  Once your doctor knows if any levels are low, then she can prescribe whatever you need in the manner and dosage you need it in.

Once my levels were finally up into normal range with high doses, I'm maintaining levels to keep them up...one B12 shot a month (self-inflicted, this one is still on the low side), 25mg of iron, and 5,000 IUs of vit D3.  I know a lot of people are saying that we need "dry" D3 but I've been able to bring my levels up and maintain just fine with capsules.

Welcome!  Hope you have more energy soon.  There are lots of things you can start now that don't involve increased energy, such as getting back to the rules, changing  what you are eating and the amounts, tracking, etc.  I find checking in here every day is motivating.

Mine are prescribed by my PCP and then I fill the prescription at the pharmacy.
