Struggling with stress eating

i carefully plan my eating and day. Then I let stress side track me. I will try distracting like pulling weeds or playing with the dogs, yet don't find these relieve the feeling I need to eat even when not hungry.  I really don't get hungry often. So maybe this is part of the problem. If I only ate when hungry I would rarely eat. I lost 10 lbs when I was on my own but hubby is back and the stress comes with him. He is not abusive just physically struggling and does not follow doctors orders.
I got down to my size 10's and now they are getting tight again. I have been making sure that the snack food in the house is all high protien. Lately I have been craving salt more. Any mental tricks for gettting refocused when head hunger is out of control?

Lately I have been craving salt more.

That indicates Adrenal exhaustion... So you are getting tired and stressed and our body wants fuel. 
Cortisol causes some insulin resistance - so your cells (except the fat cells on your belly) are not getting enough fuel.. 

Meditation - yoga and any treatments - herbs for adrenals.

what about wanting nothing but sweets???
but then i go look at them i turn away.
is it head hunger?

Sweet cravings - can be due to
candida
stress
hormonal imbalance
low blood sugar
depression
food allergies
low adrenal functions

Cravings for sweets are associated with spleen issue... blood issue (Chinese medicine)
Turning away - you still have enough control to walk away - or you dump and the memory of sugar dumping or RH helps you say no

ii) Spleen and sweet

Chinese medicine considers that the spleen is an important organ that dominates digestion, including functions of transformation, transportation and absorption of nutrients from food. If the spleen is weak or disordered, the body will have the following symptoms: lack of energy, stomach or abdominal bloating especially after eating, irregular bowel movement, weight gain, heavy and puffy arms and legs, poor quality sleep and insomnia. Some cases are accompanied by under-active thyroid, chronic fatigue syndrome and oedema. All these symptoms are associated with spleen qi deficiency or disorder. These people often crave sweets because sweet flavours can help tonify spleen qi and energy.

Why do many children like sweets? This is because Chinese medicine considers children to have developing spleens that are still weak. Eating certain amounts (but not too much) of sweet foods can help children’s growth and development.

In the clinic, after balancing the spleen and the resolution of its associated symptoms, my clients also tell me that they don’t crave sweets anymore.

iii) Kidney and salty

Chinese medicine regards the kidneys as one of the important organs. They store our body’s original essence – inherited from our parents. This is why the kidneys are associated with the body’s constitution, which for some people can be strong or weak.

Salty tastes goes to the kidneys first. Naturally for humans, salt is essential for life. In some traditional Chinese formulas that treat the kidneys, it has been indicated that they should be taken with some salty water so that their effects can reach the kidneys first.

If the kidneys are weak the body will have the following symptoms such as: lack of energy, low back, knee, ankle or heel pain, tired legs, poor memory, frequent urination especially at night time, early greying of hair, early menopause, impotence, developmental problems for children such as delayed walking or spee*****ertain cases patients can feel a salty taste in the mouth. This is the body’s sign of a possible kidney deficiency or disorder.

In the clinic, I always suggest clients to eat foods that can tonify the kidneys during treatment such as: prawns, sea cucumber, lamb, oyster, black beans, walnuts, chestnuts and goji berries.

When ever we are craving food but not really hungry it is head hunger. Triggered by coping skills that no longer and really never worked well for us. These are what go most of us into trouble in the first place. Finding skills to work around it is the key but I am finding it harder when I am under a lot of stress. otherwise I keep berries, grapes or nuts on hand to use as snacks. These feel like snacks and don't hurt my over all goal of health.

lately ive been so hunger i eat almost everything i bring to work for lunch, before its even lunch time. im starting to think my blood sugar is getting to low. i sit all day (on the phones)....

I need to eat every 3 hrs.  And I try not to eat carbs before 4 pm.
If I do not eat every 4 hrs I get Sooo... hungry.  Even in my BS shows OK.   Low carb (not even fruits or milk - I use unsweet coconut or almond milk) allows me to function.

Also - some cravings when full - may indicate some deficiencies - the cravings will be specific: like craving salty foods, or sweet, or ... pica.. i.e. dirt, paper... etc.

Chocolate cravings - so typical in PMS - may indicate magnesium deficiencies. Also - chocolate acts on a brain like love does - endorphins - so when we are tense or depressed - the brain - body - want that.
