8 Day Post Op-I feel so much better

Hey Botts:

I am finally feeling human again.  I had my FDL Tummy Tuck and Hernia Surgery last Thursday.  I had to be at the hospital at 6:30 AM for prepping and meeting with both my surgeons.  I went into the surgery suite at 8:50 AM and by 9:00 AM I was in LA LA land.  My hernia surgery was suppose to take 1 1/2 hours at the most but took 3 hours instead.  I had a hole in my muscle wall about the size of a grapefruit and where I was feeling the hernia on the right side, the surgeons located it on the left.  After the repairs were made, the surgeon sutured the muscles tightly together like a corset.  I offically have an hour glass figure now!  The next 3 1/2 hours of surgery was spent removing 4.7 lbs. of excess skin in my upper and lower abdomen.  My belly button and sutures all look really good.  I do have a little low hip fat that makes my hips look rounded but not bad.  We will remove that in our second phase of completing the LBL.  I spent a total of 6.5 hours in surgery all together.  In recovery my blood pressure kept falling low.  So instead of going home that night, I ended up staying until 6:00 AM the next morning.  Now my pain level with the pain pills has been very doeable and not bad at all.  The antibiotics that I was on though was giving me IBS so I was getting very dehydrated without knowing it.  I was taking in lots of fluids but everytime I went to the bathroom I was having diarehea and flushing all my fluids out.  I was not taking in enough sodium either.  Too much water!  I had a drain that stopped up with a blood clot after two days so it starting leaking at the tube site.   That was fun.  Mainly I was staying exhausted all day long.  I had my first check up on Wednesday and my doctor pulled the none functioning drain tube out.  I was so dehydrated and was dry heaving at the appointment, I was miserable.  After he took me off my antibiotics and told me to eat something solid not just drink protein shakes, I started to do better.  Yesterday, I found out that my lift chair is no longer my best friend as I am having major back ache but today I feel I have finally turned the corner.  I had my first real, real shower not just hand shower in the tub seat but actually in the shower, got my hair washed and blowed out, I just feel human today.  I weight 156 the day of surgery and on Wednesday I weighed 154.  Swelling has been at a minimal.  My surgeon gave up using the CG about 3 years ago and all his patients have done wonderful without it.  So other than compression hose for the first 48 hours, I am CG free and I like it.  I have a flat, flat tummy and very small waist but as I said before, my hips look wider because of my waist so I have to get use to that.  I am totally off all my pain meds and moving in an up position now. (no more stooping).  I want to thank you all again for all the well wishes and prayers while I was down.  I really appreciate all the help and advice I was giving pre-op and I am sure I will be here to ask all kind of post op advice now.  Thanks again.
