Back On Track Together
Help
I'm new to the group...and i really need to get back on track. I had my surgery in october of 07. I lost almost 300lb...i was almost 600lb when i had the surgery. But this last october, my grandma died...and i just started eating things i shouldn't. I've gained almost 50lb back...i feel so horrible about myself. I would rather die than go back to the way i was. But foods that used to make me have dumping syndrome, don't anymore. My stomach hasn't stretched back to its before surgery size, but it has been stretched. What do i do? I try to force myself not to eat...just eat protein bars and protein drinks...but it's so hard....i want to feel like i did right after surgery...i WANT food to make me sick so i wont want it. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
I am glad you found us. But I have to say I am kinda a tough love kind of chick. We, by no means will advise you or help you make yourself SICK. And you now know you can eat about anything. So, you have to get it in your head you're going to get back to basic...meaning watch what youeat and work out and get the water in. Hell, it's not easy but we're all been there and still there now. We each have our issues and yes we fall off our plans but the very next day or next meal we get back on track.
You have to get it in your head that you want to get the 50 pounds off and plan to keep it off and it will take work, you will fall pick yourself back up and just do it. Make no excuses to yourself or to us. Post here every day and we don't judge we will listen...but we don't do crazy. Everyone on this board can help you, however this is all bout you and only you can make a change. You know there's no magic bullet and tomorrow morning where you will wake up and be 50 pounds lighter (I wish).
So, where to go from here...you may want to detox your system first by any means you see fit, and get your eatting under control. Yeasterday I made cup cakes from my team at work and I ate a whole Jumbo size at home made Red Velvet Cupcake with smear of Cheescake Frosting and man did I experence the dumping syndrome...it was ugly for about an hour so you know what I bet I won't be touching/eatting then again any time soon. Here we don't force ourselfs to do something we don't want to...we plan our meals daily, we work out at home or the gym or train for a race and we post daily to keep ourself honest.
I myself over the past three years have been up and down. Last October I re-gained 50 pounds and had been at 175 for more than 9 years, I am close to being 12 years out this coming July. And I have 20 additional pounds to get under control since I started my BOTT basic in Janurary 1st. I had to clean out my apartment removed the sugar, the flour, the rice (brown & white), the pancake mix, the candy, the cake mixes, the pie mixes, etc. I brought back in the Frozen veggies, the salad, the lean protein, the protein powder, the protein bars and high protein fixing like (protein soups, protein Juice drinks, the protein pancakes, the protein soups and the almond milk). I plan out 6 meals a day whi*****ludes 3 snacks and my snack are a protein bar or a piece of fruit. To help me cover my day and I chew a Sensa Chewable on those days I feel that I've grazing. My calories for the day is 1200 no more than 1300 and my proteins are 120 or more a day. I am now trying to add more food back into my daily meal plan and to remove one of the two protein bars I have a day. A co-worker has got me start on trying veggie items like the Morning Star Buffalo Chicken Patties and the Honey BBQ Riblets...
So, stalk the board and see who's doing what, who's eatting what ask questions, and post. This is about you and you have to take care of yourself...so create your plan and work your plan if you fail at one meal the very next one get back on track, if your day gets out of control once again kick yourself because you know better and get right back on your plan the very next day!!!!!!

Congratulations on your awesome weight lost! Bryant gave you some excellent advice. I would add that if you are drinking with your meals to stop and don't drin****il 30 minutes afterwards. Increase your protein, decrease your carbs, journal your eats and walk around your house, neighborhood, mall whatever is accessible to you. You can do this. Good luck.
Congratulations on your loss and for catching yourself and coming here!
Its hard. Ive just spent the last 4 days waaay off the wagon. Its hard to get back on. One thing that is really helping me is really hitting it at the gym. I signed up for a 5k and am working with a trainer. I HAVE to workout now.
For me, food is the hard part. I use Sparkpeople to track everything. I like that site cause I can use it at work (online) and at home on my phone. I cant have a cell at work. They have lots of message boards, workout videos, recipes. You even get trophies for being successful. Yes, Im a nerd and I like my trophies. You can also track any walk/runs/bikes on a map to see how far you are going...free :)
I also recommend going thru the house and getting rid of the crap. Luckily my mom and other family memebers live next door to me, so I just take everything over there and drop it off. I cant have the food there. It haunts me until I eat it. I even have a hard time keeping a shelf for our daughter. Sometimes, I make her keep food in her room. LUCKILY she has no food issues.
If you need to, shoot for one good meal a day to start with. YOU CAN DO THIS!!
One day, one meal, one bite at a time
