Back On Track Together
new to BOTT- Help needed!
I am so glad I found this group. I am having an extremely hard time getting back on track. I lost 85 lbs, gained 40 during pregnancy, have since lost 20...but am havng the hardest time losing the last 20. I definitely fell into many bad habits during my pregnancy, and am now having a hard time letting them go. I feel like a failure, and am a little disgusted with myself. Any suggestions of how to get back on track would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome. Tell us more about what the bad habits are.
For me it was difficult to give up my bad habits if I did not have something to replace that with. Replace bad habit with a good one - one at a time. Give it tme.
i.e. To give up simple carbs - I had to replace them with more healthy food - for me was to realize that I had to give them up completely - even 1/2 cookie will trigger my sugar up and downs. I can't have 1/2 cookie. like an addict - I will have the other 1/2 then another one, then another one... But as long as I did not have the first 1/2 - I was OK. Same with bread. On the other hand - I can have as much chocolate as I want - as long as it is the 85% or higher - cocoa content. But I am usually satisfied with 1-2 squares. Same with blueberries or other berries. But I can;t have any bananas or melons or some other foods.
I need to eat every 2-3 hrs. Mostly proteins, 150-200 cal small meals. 5-7 meals per day.
I bake my own protein cookies and cakes (egg face blog - for recipe), and got introduced to quest protein bars. they are so low in net carbs, but really high in fiber and proteins and are a major treat.
and so one... what are your "bad foods?"

Each of us approched our getting back on track differently. For myself I had to get it in my head to get back to my maintain weight of 175 pounds. I don't want to be any smaller I am happy at 175 pounds.
But, I had to clean house, I had to get the sweets stuff out of my apartment along with the flour, sugar, rice, and the pasta, the pancake mixes and cake mixes, brownies and cookie mixes. My next door neighbor loved me. Once, that stuff was gone I started the 5 day pouch test. I failed the very next day and started over. I made it 2 days and failed and started over from day one. I made it 3 days and failed again. In all I stopped and started the 5 day pouch test 5 times before I was able to make it a complete 5 days. And I repeated it again for another 5 days before moving on to day 6 & 7. It was close to a month before I could say I did it. Now I follow day 7 and have been for 3 months now.
I have to be honest I have some days that I do fall off the wagon but I get back on plan the very next day. I track everything I eat and I am honest with it, I come here and post daily for the support. Getting back on track is harder than having the surgery because now its will power to walk away from the jelly beans, the cookies, the cupcakes, etc. There will be days you fail and kick yourself but get right back on track the very next day. And what I found if I slip up at work I come home and do an extra 30 to 45 minute work out. Come July it will be 12 years for me I am 20 pounds from hitting my goal once again. I am taking it slow about 6 to 7 pounds a month, I feel if I drop the weight too fast I will just regain.
Here you will see who eatting what and what workout they are doing. So you will learn something new. Like me, Tess posted she was eatting the Quest Protein Bar I did my research and I order a few to try them and I like them. Tess had a bowl of Hi Lo Cereal - Maple Pecan and that souned great so I found them on line and order 2 boxes and just recently I ordered 18 boxes and shipped 6 to my mom and 6 to my sister along with 2 sample packages of Quest Protein Bars. I found the Vita Top Muffins and it seems everyone is eatting them as well, they also make cupcakes and brownies which are idea for snack. I purchase Protein Fruit Drinks and Protein Soups packages and Pancake mix from MyBariatricPantry.com. I also got turned on to using Almond Milk in my cereal and coffee in the moring.
So, read what we're doing if it looks or sound interesting reach out we're all here to share and learn from each other and support one another and yes we do vent here as well.
I hope this helps but you have to work your plan to make it work...we can't do it for you we can only support!
