Merry Christmas to Me...

It seems like it has been forever since I have been back to the OH website. A lot has changed but it's nice to see that the support and information remain. I got an email today reminding me that today is my 6 year anniversary. 6 years, Wow. I have done more and lived more in the last 6 years than I ever thought was possible. 6 years ago I would have bet all on the fact I would not be alive to type this right now, but God is good.
I am no where near my goal wieght I set when this journey began but still, every day I gey a little closer. When I started this whole thing I wieghed 600lbs, could not walk more than 1-2 minutes without being severly out of breath and was scared to leave my house. Now, I am under 400lbs for the first time in 15-20 years. spend my days doing most things I want, including full days at the amusement parks with my kids, working part time, being a Youth Pastor and all that that entails and overall having a pretty ggod life.
People still look at me and say "was it worth it?", I mean I am still 380lbs but my answer is ALWAYS YES YES YES. My oldest son is graduating high school this year and has already enlisted in the United States Navy, I get to see that. My youngest is in Jr High and has started playing drums, I get to see that. My wife graduated from Evangel University and started the carreer she has always wanted, I GOT TO SEE THAT.
I still have goals to meet and wieght to lose but it is no longer a "fight" because no matter what happens, I have won. People like Cathy Wilson have had a huge part in my success. When all this started she would talk to me here online and at our support group in town. We would talk on the phone and her journey before mine showed me that it was possible, THANK YOU CATHY.
I hope this is an encouragement for those that read it. Weather you are a veteran, newby or still looking at the surgery option, you are not alone and your success is measured in quality of life NOT the image people see. In my head I try to think as a "thin" person, live as a "thin" person and always remember to love me for who and what I am, A person perfectly created in Gods image.

Merry Christmas Wayne and to your family as well.  Give your son a big hug from me for protecting our nation.  My dad was Navy.  I also have a long way to my goal as do many of us here on this site. To go from the 600s to the 300s is amazing and you should be very proud of your accomplishment.   I hope you hang around here and use the information and support to maintain or lose as you desire.  I have watched some people lose 50 to 60 lbs. this past year (not me though).  I am setting out to lose some more next year.  I hope you join us as we "oldies" make it happen again.  Peace and health to you,  Just me
