Hi everyone!  I seriously need help and need to get back on track.  I was one year post-op just after this past Christmas.  I started at 276 lbs. and got down to 195.  I have been at the 195-200 mark since about 6 months out, then i just plateaued.  Just got on the scale the other day, and I was at 205!!!!  I am SOOOO stressed out.  My biggest problem was that I had started drinking wine at night....and, quite heavily.  I don't even know why, I just felt like I had to have it.  I haven't had a drink in over a week, and I plan to stay away from it.  I can't believe it had such a hold on me.  I've never been a drinker before.  Also, I feel like I can eat A LOT more than I should.  could my pouch have stretched??? I have an appt. coming up in a couple of weeks, and I am so stressed about it.  I feel so ashamed, and like a complete failure.  I don't even want to go....I am hoping to meet some people who are going through the same thing, or have gone through this, that can really help me and guide me in the right direction...

Hi,

I am Carol and I fully understand how you are feeling with the exception of drinking wine.  I am stopped losing weight about 8 months ago and just now getting back to losing.  I pretty much stopped my weightloss because I got out of my comfort zone which sounds crazy but that is what I did.  I eat enough calories to keep at the weight I am well that is until this week when I decided I am finishing what I started.  When all is said and done we have to get back to the basics and just do it.

You are not a complete failure and you cannot change yesterday but we choose today.  One meal, one exercise session, one glass of water at a time.  I to need support to finish this and I have 100 more pounds to go but I am going the distance and I know you can to.

The wine thing you really have to be careful with because of possiblity fo addication which they say so many turn to another type of addiction to replace the food one.  You can do this: we can do this.  I do not know about you but a year or so ago I would not say I need help so the fact that we are here saying it says a lot if you ask me. Lets just brush ourselves off and go at it again.

Carol really said it well.  This group can help you a lot.  Very polite, very encouraging and not judgemental.  None of us are perfect.  Even those at goal weight do not talk down to us.  I also had to stop drinking wine.  I never drank much before surgery but I started having a glass at night to help me sleep.  They say a glass is healthy but it increased low blood sugars and added extra calories.   For me it was not a healthy.  Welcome.  Just me

I too got into the wine.  I am, as of yesterday 1 year sober (yay me!)  We just can't drink.

You didn't stretch you pouch you probably are not following the rules.  Are you drinking with meals?  Are you eating protein 1st?  Are you limiting the carbs? Are you still drinking your protein?

If you drink, or even eat carbs with your protein you can eat a LOT more.  Slider foods go right through & if you eat mashed potatoes with chicken you will be able to push the chicken through and keep eating.

I'm trying to lose the 100# I gained.  I've lost 45 since Dec.  Protein, low carb etc.

You can do it!!

You have taken the 1st step to getting back on track.  Be grateful you have only gained a little back and why would you feel like a complete failure for gaining a few pounds back.  You are not going to ever be perfect.  So get rid of that thinking.  Did you print down the packet offered here at the beginning of the discussion boards?  It is very helpful and useful.

Please read my profile.  I don not have time to post details but I had lost about 300 pounds and gained back 80 of them and started getting back on track last year and I have taken off half of them.  I never reached my goal weight.

Your pouch is fine.  I recommend going to face to face support groups and I just posted some information about Telephone support groups that I have found very useful for me in getting back on track.  You can do it.
