MSBFGE - 13 Days to go I am really going to need you guys!

 Hey Everyone  

I have shared with you all about my only son "finally" planning on getting married and then grandbabies YES    My heart is so full of so many dreams and happy days ahead.  Well.....

My son just sent me an email saying there was going to be 2 big announcement and he said "no mom she is not pregnant".  Her family is in San Fransisco and they are both going to start looking for jobs in that area and relocate there as soon as they can.

My heart is broken    This is "their" time and I want them to be happy, but you miss out on so many things not being close.  Those last minute let's grab lunch get together.  Him being here to help us with our techie challenges LOL  But most of all, I wanted to be in my grandkids life.  I had one set of grandparents I saw daily and loved dearly, the other ones we visited once or twice a year and it was not the same.  I don't want to be those grandparents.  

Now if they were going to move "any" where other than San Fran I would move heaven and earth to be there.  Hello!!  You don't see people retiring to San Fran for a reason.  Why in the hell did they have to want to go to the most EXPENSIVE place to live????

Well, kind of not about you.  Where they choose to locate - yes that's about them.  Where they choose to raise your grandchildren (OK, so they are their children too LOL) now, that's about you.  But look at it this way, You have at least 9 months to adjust to the idea.  And you will be a super grandmother whether near or far.  They are so lucky to have you perched in their family tree!!!!

 I love you girl...the way you look at life    They will be getting in engaged this coming trip in less than 2 weeks, then the wedding and such.  So I guess grandkids wise I have some time.  My son sent me some job ads he is already applying for...so that move may be sooner than I think.

I should have found him a local girl

Hey Kath,

Grrrrr x2.  We've talked about this before and even though you knew it, knowing it for real and it is happening is another story.

Okay, San Francisco isn't exactly the ideal place to move for financial purposes but what about relocating closer than you are now?  Oregon, Nevada or someplace closer would be a quick flight (Southwest is great for that!) or few hour drive.

Whether near or far, I know your future grandbabies will be very blessed with you as their grandma.  Your son is VERY lucky to have you as his mom.

Maybe with technology now getting closer will be easier?  When the grand kids are older skype face to face chats on the computer are great. Record yourself on video reading great childrens books. They can play the videos for the kids. Sign up for emails for all the air carriers that go from where you live to SF so you will see the bargains first.

 Thanks laura, I know those are some great suggestions.  But as you are holding your little angel just not the same as a hug.  But it's part of life and I need to make it a positive one for my son and his family.
