Back On Track Together
Big Okieland HELLO!
Thank you for letting me join!
I am only about 2 months out since my WLS. But I'm (like many) struggling daily to change my head hunger mentality and the over eating behaviors that made me fat in the first place.
Sadly my late night eating has crept back into the picture. UGH! I had thought I had curbed that by turning in earlier and getting up earlier. I did that for 5 weeks and then slipped back into my old habits of staying up late and then taking a long nap in the afternoon so I am not eating til late afternoon and evening and so I'm just packing food in my mouth. Luckily it's not nearly what I use to.
So I struggle EVERY day to stay on track and focused.
I log EVERYTHING I eat, good and bad. Still those carbs call to me dang it!! *sigh*
I do exercise daily with walking my dog 30 minutes nightly and then doing the C25k program along with cardo DvDs and Pilate/dance DvDs.
I just can't seem to get a good grip on handling these urges and NEED to eat. I can tell my self no. It's not what I need, I shouldn't eat it and so forth and I still find myself with a serving of whatever and just, gobbling it up.
I will NOT fail at this. I need to stop it now and get a grip so that I can keep moving forward.
I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you and cheering you on to greatness in healthy living and healthy bodies!

Hi Suzi,
Welcome to BOTT! I'm glad that you are with us as all of us BOTT.
Just as many habits that we need to change, late night eating is one of those. Like you, I'm a fan of night-time eating. If you are eating according to your surgeon's dietary protocol, there shouldn't be a reason why you are hungry late at night. It is a habit that got you to where you were in needing wls.
Keep doing what you're doing with your activity, make sure you are following what your surgeon/nutritionist advises patients to follow as far as dietary guidelines and take vitamins.
Now that you've had surgery and aren't able to use food in the same way you did before, certain emotions may be causing you to want to eat at night even more than before. Identify those emotions and distract yourself from turning to food to manage uncomfortable emotions. Many of us use food to calm and take the edge off of our emotions.
Again, welcome to BOTT!!
BOTT POWER!
