Hi, Janie.

I also use food to handle feelings - even happy ones! Most of the time I reach for food automatically and the feelings go away before I am even aware of them. When I had my RNY in 2001, I was in the middle of the most tumultuous emotional experience of my life. How I WISH I had waited until I was through that healing process! My weight loss was great for the first 9 months and then I gained it all back plus more. Now I am trying to get BOT while learning how to have feelings without eating them away.

I'm glad to hear you are journaling. Can't think of a better way to handle things. I try to be aware of when I am eating and make myself "sit" with the feelings first. Often I find that it is ok and I will not explode if I let them happen without food. Sometimes they are more intense and I have to take a more aggressive approach. Walking and exercise are good ways to get the feelings "out there" instead of stuffing them down.

My 411 is since I have reconnected with OH.com and BOTT I really feel like I can reach my goal.  Since March 1st I have lost 6 pounds. Goal this week was to exercise 5 days and I have 2 days in.  2ND goal was no fast foods (new name for these is FAT FOODS) and so far I have not had any FAT FOODS. Yippee!!!   Thanks again for your continued support!!!
