Back On Track Together
Why am I struggling to lose now.....
Colleen; thanks so much for your take on what's happening to our bodies after 40...argh... Your resolve is an inspiration to me because of my frustration. I DO feel better, even though the numbers aren't showing it. I'm planning on stepping up my game as far as exercise goes. It's just depressing to me that I've been able to lose weight with very little effort all my life, even pre-op...I like your phrase, 'its the journey, not the destination....' I will try to remember that when I get frustrated.
Ruth; I was thinking the same thing. I may be taking in too few calories, even though they are all quality calories. I usually am somewhere in between 900-1000 calories, sometimes 1100. Like I said, it's always worked for me before, now I feel like I have to start from scratch and mix it up to see what's going to work this time.
Marti; I'm going to try to incorporate some other 'soft' proteins, like you suggested...I like cottage cheese, but unfortunately (because I love them!) I have never since day one been able to eat eggs of any kind.
Any one else care to 'weigh in' in this issue???? I love hearing everyone's take on this and what I'm finding out is that I'm not alone!

It's a hard thing to gain the lost weight back. I had lap-band surgery 6 years ago, and did gain most of my weight back due to some stressful family issues. I am back-on-track, and it's harder this time around. I'm older, retired, just not as active. I've had to push myself to get moving. As one of your other posts indicated, take each day's successes positively. If you step off the track, acknowledge it and get back on the track.
I just posted "I'm back" on BOTT. Haven't really been away, just a couple of busy weeks, but I did post some things that work for me. Maybe they will help you as well. I have stayed at the same weight for a couple of weeks at a time, but the weight isn't going up and that's a good thing!! Keep looking for the positives in losing the weight, it's hard but worth the effort!

Shelly,
You are doing wonderful if you lost 10 pounds in one month!!! You had the surgery over 5 years ago so the WLS has did it job. Now it is a almost normal 49 year old trying to lose weight. Your metabolism is 5 yrs slower. You are not going to lose weight every day even if you are just doing liquids. Our bodies are so smart when it comes to intake. Please be patient the scale will start to move again. The closer you get to goal weight the slower the scale may move. Keep up the good work and good luck to you!
I am just now getting back on track myself so I don't completely understand. and beside I weigh much more than you, Keep the faith in your program and believe in you! You can do this, just give yourself a pat on the back for those 10 pounds and don't expect another 10 pounds in one month. As long as you are not gaining. Our bodies do not work or lose like we want and that is the nature of the beast. Take care.
