MSBFGE - 41 Days to go...why does food talk to us?

 Hey Everyone

I have to talk to you guys about something I am noticing.  The first week I was so jazzed (as we all r when we decide to start "new").  And not once was I tempted and I had the will power of OZ.  This is only my second week and I am doing good with my eating and proud of the fact I am working out more days and harder.

What I have noticed is the food I could resist last week is now getting a second look.  No I am not hungry...it's talking to me. I am serious, quit laughing   Last week I was like talk to the hand this week I am saying, what did you say?

For example....my husband likes a small treat at the end of the day and there is nothing wrong with that.  I was getting out the cookies and pouring a glass of milk and I could have sworn I heard something..  It was muffled but something was said.  I stared at the zip lock bag and the cookies were saying, hey, we are soooo good, just a small bite won't hurt...come on...  It was like those jib jab cartoons where the cookies have eyes and an mouth and talk to you.  OMG    has the lack of carbs made me lose my mind

I was able to walk away, thank goodness.  But please tell me what is it about us?  What is it in our make up, DNA that we hear food talking to us when others don't?

 lemon water
Protein drink
almond for snack
cold shrimp salad for lunch
protein drink
grilled buffalo burger and veggies for dinner

Upper body working today with weights.

Oh man, did you hear that?  I think I heard eggs talking to me

Hi Kathy,

I agree with you completely.  There are days that you couldn't force feed me something off track and other days that my head hunger is so loud I can hardly think.

It is so strange because being on track feels so much better.  I think clearer, feel stronger and am truly so my happier and positive.  Why would I compromise that for some stupid fleeting temporary pleasure of food?

At least BOTT is here for us as we go through the wls journey together.

You are doing great!

Cathy

Oh absoloutely YES!!!!!!!!!!!  My food has a little voice (that no one else seems to hear) and it says the same thing over and over...

"eat me eat me eat me..."  "you know you want to"

grrrr..that is one voice that I do not want to hear

But it's good to know I'm not the only crazy one thanks for making me laugh out loud

Great post!  Everything you said is so true.  Of the 20 pounds I want to drop I lost 7 in the first 7 days and now here I am.  Listening to the food, but you have helped me stay on track today.  Thanks for your support.  I read a lot and post none.  You inspired me to post this message.

Have a great day!!!!

Brandi

 Hi Brandi,

Thanks for letting me know...sometimes you think you are rambling and no one is out there and the guys in the white coats are coming to get you.

I was AMAZED at how easy it seemed the first week, telling myself I have this in the bag...  Yeah right, now this week it's like every McDonalds I drive by is saying Shamrock shake, Shamrock shake... last weekend there were Girl Scout cookies EVERYWHERE!!  and the guilt of being a Mom and not buying was hard.  The SG cookies were saying, shame on you, shame on you...

7 pounds is awesome by the way...we can do it, we can do it, we can do it...

Take care,
kathy

Yes!  I knew I heard  talking!  I'm into my 3rd week of being soooooo good and successful and, while still am, I'm really hearing my glass of wine call my name - mostly in the social situations.... I'm working it into my daily calories when I CHOICE to endulge, but wanted to stay "true" to my first 2 yr. post-op progam.
