My 5 day pouch test starts tomorrow!

Well, my 5 day pouch test book and cookbook came in the mail today and it looks great!  I already read halfway through it and think tomorrow is a great day to start.  why?  I'm getting two wisdom teeth pulled out tomorrow and I'm going to have to be on soft foods/liquids anyways.  ha! :)  Way to trick myself into it eh?

I'm hoping to hear from others that have done this or knew someone that did do this.. all the encouragement and tips I could get would be greatly appreciated.   I don't think I'll have to worry about Carb headaches either taking the lovely pain pills they are giving me.   I'm going to stock up on greek yogurt and protein drinks today, soups, etc.

I'm excited to finally gain control again of my eating.  I remember how GOOD it felt after WLS to not feel like food controlled me, but that I controlled the food.  I remember before WLS how everything in my life revolved around what I wanted to eat and how I could consume upwards of 4000 cals a day.  How I couldn't drive by a fast food place without wanting to go in and have something (whether I was hungry or not) or compulsively buy that candy bar 'calling my name' at the check out counter.  Diet coke was also something I was in serious bondage too before WLS.. and up until recently I had let it back into my life!  What was I thinking?

Well here I am... excited about gaining control again.. thankful for this group to keep me accountable and a soft place to land and be encouraged and to encourage others.

thanks everyone...

Shakeira,

I have done the 5DPT previously.  I found the most difficult days to be day 3 and day 4.

This is the perfect time to make sure that you increase your fluid intake to help flush out your system.

I have a very picky pouch during any kind of emotional stress.  That includes being tired etc.  When I find myself in this situation I have followed the first 2 days of the plan until I get past an stressors.

Shakeira,
Don't know which I should wish you Good luck on, the 5 day or getting the wisdom teeth done.  Oh, hell, GOOD LUCK on BOTH!

Hi,
Good luck.  For me the worst was day 2, and 3.  But - I survived.
While on the 5DPT - remember that you need regular BM. That one thing I learn during my first 5DPT.  Since I did not eat solid foods - I did not think about it - but it is important to make sure that things are "moving".
In a few days - I may try to do the 5DPT to try to reset my pouch - now - I can eat much more than before... and I gained the 5 lbs that I wanted - to it is time to stop the gain and back to rules.

I also used the 5 dpt last November to start me on the road to being back on track, it was the best thing I have done for myself in years.  I have lost all my excess weight and I am maintaining again.  I just kept reminding myself that it was only a few days, it wasn't like I would eat like that forever.

I have been kicking around the idea of trying this too, but it's a little difficult mixing shakes at work.  I've seen some good reports on it for decarbing and dropping a few pounds quickly.  I'll be interested to hear how it goes.
