I have never liked the taste of maple syrup, but can you actually smell it in the air as it drips? The smell of maple reminds me of country kitchen.....very comforting.

No, we can't smell it.  It is only a visual.

Oops Iposted on Cardio Monday.. So, I'll try this again:) Thanks everyone for being here. Ireally enjoy reading your food plans because I run out of ideas on what to eat. I'm home recovering from shoulder surgery. Some of my old habits have been creeping up being at home by myself and my jeans are getting snug. Haven't been able to exercise for the past few months because of my injury so that hasn't helped. Am a bit down because my surgery was more extensive than planned and I will be offwork longer than expected.
Does anyone record what they ate the day before? I'm a bit down in the dumps and really, really try to stay positive during the torture of physical therapy:) Can someone track me down if Idon't post tomorrow, haha!
Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

Paula - We pretty much handle what we ate the day before by posting on the Cardio-Cafe thread every day.  By posting every day, it helps keep us accountable.  Glad you're here and let us know how we can be most helpful

I do need accountability!  I'm not sleeping, up every hour or two and when I don't get enough sleep, my appetite goes up.  Can I count physical therapy as exercise?
I'm keeping in mind that I'm posting tomorrow with each bite.

Thank you for the welcome,
Paula

Paula, sure you can count physical therapy as exercise.  The reason you move your body is irrelevant - just moving is the important thing.  I've been reading several arricles recently about sleep and it appears much more significant that we thought.  Yes, it does affect weight loss - and about every other bodily function as well.  The difference between 7 hours and 8 hours of sleep has been shown to even make a difference in the probability of one having a heart attack.  Amazing isn't it?

And don't hide, we all need accountability - that's why we're here.  Keep coming and thank you for allowing us to share your journey.

If I could get more than 5 hrs. sleep it would be awesomeA month with very little sleep is tough on this forty something mom and my family too! haha!  It makes me depressed.  I know it will get better but I've met patients who aren't getting sleep at 6 mos. out from shoulder surgery.  My bypass was a piece of cake in comparison but this too shall pass, eventually!

Thank you for the support,
Paula

Has your dr considered medication for sleep in the short term?  Shoulder surgery is very painful and a little help might be in order here.  Only your dr would know what is best for you.
