Having a rough time

Boy have the last few weeks been terrible for me. All I have wanted to do is put food in my mouth, good or bad food.  It has been very stressful, I have had to caretake for my parents, mom had double bypass and my father is dealing with bladder cancer treatment right now.  I feel like I have not my own life right now.  My husband and I are two ships passing in the night, I miss him so.
I am trying to work my no flour no sugar food plan and am really struggling.  I have put on a few pounds and am petrified.  I really need to get myself under control here and with the stress am struggling.
Thanks for letting me vent

This is my first time here in a long time and I just had to reply.  Reading this made me want to cry and that's not that easy.  I need to do the no sugar and no flour thing also.  I have gained 20 pounds this winter and I am beyond terrified.  I am helping with my elderly grandma and I have two kids and money issues and I just don't feel like doing much else after that.

I have been forcing myself to do at least 30 minutes of hard step aroebics every morning.  I just tell myself that I do have to come first sometimes and this is one thing I have to do.  I have added fruit as snacks and keep track of what I eat.  It's amazing how much you can eat of the wrong foods.

Just wanted you to know you wern't alone.  I can go through this with you.  No sugar, No flour.  Not sure what's left, but I suppose I shall find out.

Thanks so much.  I knew I was probably not alone. :-) that's why I vented here.

I really need to get back on track with my exercising too.  I used to hit Curves 3 days a week and do my treadmill for 2 miles a day everyday, no such luck lately.  Well my mom is driving again and hopefully I can get back on track with everything!

Dear Denise,

I know (somewhat) of where you are.  My mother lives with us and she is 89.  She has congestive heart failure and the doctor says there is nothing else to do but make her happy,  We try to do just that.  I am sorry to hear that both of your parents are so ill.

I work a full time job and am gone from home about 10-11 hours a day and I feel like I am going through the same struggle with food that you are.  I am an emotion driven eater.  My husband  and I see each other for a couple of hours in the evening because he goes to work so early.  But, there is basically no life outside of taking care of mother and working.

However, I am so happy that we both know that God is for us.  I will keep you in my prayers and I hope that you will mention me in yours.

Paula

Hi Denise,

You are giving to so many people which is wonderful of you. However, what are YOU giving to YOU? The demands on your time and energies are substantial. It sounds as though you are nurturing yourself with food choices rather than other things that can nurture you.

You miss your hubby so carve out some time every day for the two of you not to be ships passing. Remember that what you are looking for isn't really found in the kitchen. You are looking to give to yourself and to feel nurtured. Whether it is a bubble bath, reading for 30 minutes a favorite book or whatever it is, give to yourself.

Here's to nurturing you!

Remember, you can't pour out of an empty pitcher.  Getting your needs met is the most unselfish thing you can do - for then you have more to give others.  And the demands for you to give to others is enormous right now.

I'm so glad you feel safe to come here and share (it's the mildest "venting" I've come across in a long time LOL)

Please take very good care of yourself.  To paraphrase - Do unto yourself as you do unto others.

And, by the way Cathy, I lovingly invite you to "practice what you preach"

You are three awesome ladies.  Treasure and appreciate yourselves.

Thank you for allowing us to share your journey

Hi Denise and all!
I know where you are coming from and my heart goes out to you! Hang in there and continue to be vigelent of what you are eating....even if it's the wrong thing.

I've been struggling myself the last several weeks myself and have been sticking to this group and they have been so helpful and supportive.

Continue doing the step aerobics. That will not only keep you motivated, it will help you to work off some of the stress you're feeling.

Hang in there!
Janie
