Back On Track Together
Embarassed to show my face here...
I am 2 months away from being 3 years post op. I used to do a ton of youtube videos and kept a detailed blog online. Since then I have removed a lot of my videos and made my blog private (which I plan on switching back on today).
My surgery date was April 16, 2007.
My lowest weight post op was 132 lbs. in the summer of 2008.
For the last year I sat right around 145-148 lbs.
Today I weighed 155.6 lbs. Scared me to death.
I am in nursing school, have 3 kids, work a full time job on 3rd shift (10p-6a), have a husband and a kitten and a 5 bedroom house to clean. LOL I am busy and usually tired and make horrible food choices.
I have to get a grip though b/c I didn't come this far to lose it all.
I want to get back to 140 lbs. 132 was a little to thin for me. I felt good at 140. So I need to lose 15 lbs.
Today I wasn't perfect but my food was better than it has been. Right now I'm at 1000 calories and I still need to eat supper and work all night....I'm taking some weight control oatmeal and cottage cheese for work and am going to have a turkey burger or a piece of fish for supper w/ some broccoli.
I need some support and any ideas to make this work in my time crunched world! :)

Hey Amber,
Do you want me to give you a quick swift kick in the butt or a hug? Not for falling off the wagon but for the subject line?
This is a safe place to come and say I messed up. We all have or we would not be here. Read the docs we have, you know what you need to do. But take it one step at a time. Make a list of what you need to do to get back on track. Then make a list of the ones you are not doing. Take one or two at a time, like not drinking with meals, drinking all your water, taking all your vitamins. Then one by one make them a part of your day.
You are feeling tired all the time because you are not eating clean, working out in some shape of form and your body is telling you so. It's like you are putting water'd down gas in your engine and it's not running smoothly.
You also need to start journaling again. Find out why you stopped doing what was working for you. We are here to help you.
Be accountable with your food and exercise in the BOTT Cafe and cardio thread. If you are dealing with head and emotional issues check in the 911 thread. Come here as often as you need to but never feel bad about where you are.
Feel good you have said enough is enough!!!
Take care,
Kathy

Your in the right place. This is a great place for motivation and inspiration. I just emptied the pantry and fridge yesterday of all non RNY friendly items. I kept some for the kids but they have been relocated to the garage where I will not see them or try to eat them. I just shopped this morning for the next 5 days of planned meals and snacks. I lost 2.5 lbs last week. I was up 43 lbs and so so ashamed and hating myself. But I am working my tool now. You can to!
Maybe some veggie soup could be a staple you take to work. That old weigh****chers veggie soup. Low in calories and tastes good. You can eat a large bowl with a salad and feel like you really ate!
Plan your meals like when you were a baby post op. Eat every 3 hours.

Hi Amber,
No judgment here, just keep coming back. This is an amazing support group.
You can post your meal plan everyday on Cardio & Cafe and/or you can post on BOTT 911 if you find you're struggling during the day.
Someone will always have a great suggestion...

Amber, for goodness sakes you have nothing to be embarrased about - we've all "been there, done that' or we wouldn't be here. WELCOM
Go back to basics - check out the guidelines at the beginning of your discussion page. It's so easy to slip back into old ways almost without realizing it. There's the 911 call for help thread and the Cardio & Cafe thread where we are accountable. All can be extremely helpful.
For me, I have to plan my food at least one day ahead - best if 2 or 3 days, write down my plan, and follow it whether I think I'm hungry or not. NO one every fell over dead because they didn't give in to a craving. Doesn't have to be easy, you just have to do it.
I hope you find this site as helpful as I have. There is no way I could have gotten back/stayed on track without the caring, support, understanding, and acceptance of this group. I call them angels in disguise as humans
Please post often and allow us to share your journey YOU CAN DO THIS

Hi Amber,
I am here for the same reasons. I work nights too and have 2 kids at home plus a house to care for.
I know where you're coming from. I'm a month from being 3 yrs postop. I've not made goal yet. I've still got about another 40 lbs to go. I'm trying to get back on track and this is the place to do it.! This has been my first week trying to get back on track.
Start journaling your food. You'll be surprised what you find out. I do better when I journal. I haven't journaled the last couple of days and I haven't done as well.
I hope you hang in there! You can do it! It's tough working nights and being on track. When you're tired it really is a tough thing to eat the right things. I just have to keep telling myself...Protein first! Everythings comes after it if there's room. A survival kit has helped me. I pack protein shakes, cheese sticks, soy chips, turkey pepperoni. That has helped me a lot at work. Except for my addiction to vanilla wafers at work. I am working on that!
Anyway I've rattled enough. Stick with it girl! You can do it!

Hi Amber,
With all the stress and the kids and you are only up 15 lbs? Not that it is good - but at 3 years - and with as many things as you handle - that is pretty good. IMO.
Now - back to basic - protein first - then veggies.
I count my proteins - then as long as the veggies are non starchy vegetable - I do not bother counting them. But - I eat 5-7 times a day. Small meals, and every one has more proteins than carbs. and every has some fat - since fat stabilize my BS and keep sme fuller longer.
I make sure that meals have some good herbs - spices. That helps me a lot.
Even if you can not exercise - cleaning a room or walking to - from your car - is an exercise. Just try to park (in a day light) - as far from the doors (in school, work, etc) as possible. On days that I do not feel like exercising or I can not (post surgery) that helps me with getting some movements. I also have stairs in my house - so I make sure I get a few trips up and down. A little extra movement helps.
Do not forget the water and the vitamins.
