New Goal today

So my new goal to myself is to cut out all breads & most pasta. I know that Whole grain bread is not bad for us, but I NEVER ate bread when I was out of surgery. Never. And it was hard at first, but after awhile I never missed it. In fact, I lost the taste for bread after about a month or 2. I didn't really like the taste afterwards, so that is my goal, to get back to the no carb...bad pasta and no breads for me. I can get my grains from eating them by themselves. Almonds, seeds, what-have-you.

Oh and by the by... I picked myself up a bag of no-sugar hershey bars. They are very tiny... but if I happen to get a massive chocolate craving, at least I know that 2 of them (smaller than the regular hershey minis) will be sugar free and I wont beat myself up as much :)  They are fatty though!!! so I have to be sure to keep it to a minimum. I dont want to deprive myself completely because I know that would set myself up to fail and I'd choose something I didnt even really want and still have that craving. (know what i mean?) so sugar free chocolate is best I think. for now. lol...

AND OH!!! the best thing I did yesterday!! My husband bought me recees cups yesterday when he went to the store and I DECLINED!!! It was sooo hard...he sorta paused and gave me a funny look then shrugged (more for him of course) but I was so proud of myself. So I had 2 of the little sugar free hershey's which was about 50 calories and was done :)

Ok, my menu changed during the day:

Breakfast: Egg Beaters, Decaf Coffee w/splenda and 1/2 & 1/2
Snack: Protein Bar
Lunch: I scoup of Tuna on lettuce and carrots; Sugar Free Jello
Snack: Light N' Fit Yogurt 80 cal... but too much sugar! 11g. Ihave to find that dannon no sugar yogurt again. It's always very hard to find. That Carb Control Yogurt.
Dinner: I'm debating on trading dinner w/protein shake with some oompf (w/bananna n' yogurt)
Snack: almonds or beefstick or piece of cheese.

Water throughout the day.

I have issues with sugar, I have to keep it to 6 or 7 g's.  I don't  see the carb control around the stores we go to but my hubby found Blue Bunny light, it is between 6 and 7 g's.

I love the Dannon Light & Fit Carb Control yogurt. Wal-Mart had it when I shopped a few weeks ago, guess I will find out this weekend if it is still there.

Best of luck to you on your new goals!

Oh Elizabeth - I'm so VERY PROUD of you.  There are so many chocolate things we can have (my chewable calcium tablets are even chocolate - BARIATRIC ADVANTAGE.COM)  One thing that seems like a treat is Jello's 60 cal individual puddings which come in several chocolate choces.  Have you tried Fage greek yogurt - 0% fat?  I like that - have to limit myself due to constipation though - and you can easily add a serving of chocolate protein powder to that.

My goal for today is to stay within my calorie limit.  After my surgery until a couple of days ago I just couldn't even force myself to eat all of the calories I need but now I'm over eating - all very healthy food that I normally eat, just more than I should.  so I have dedicated today to staying within my limit.

Elizabeth,
I noticed about the chocolate: the SF chocolate has a lot of sugar alcohols - and that gives me a lot of gas.  I love chocolate.  And I crave that. I discovered the 85% dark chocolate. It has sugar - but not enough to cause trouble.  The dark - very rich chocolate flavor  - is fantastic.  I can have a small piece - let it dissolve in my mouth - and beside the health benefits (dark chocolate) it satisfies my cravings and does not cause gas.  That is the only chocolate that I can have at home - and enjoy every day - when needed.  It does not cause gastric upset, it does not induce sugar cravings (and mine are horrible) and it is a guilt free chocolate for me.  Try it...
