Back On Track Together

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and just wanted to say hello. I'm trying to get back on track once again. After so many years (6) I've really gotten off track on how I am supposed to be eating as a wls patient. When I had surgery I knew then that this was a life long change. I "forgot". Pretty much. You can eat more, tolerate more, all because we've conditioned ourselves and pushed the envelope until we could do those bad things once again. I've forgotten the basic rules, or rather, ignored them for too long. I drink when I eat. (sometimes). I eat the wrong things that rush right through my pouch and right on through my stoma. I am not in the mindset of "protein first" not in the mindset of no sugar or very minimal sugar (unless natural). Haven't been drinking enough water. Haven't been drinking protein shakes. Deficient in vitamins (even though I take chewables and some prescription strength ones) I now bought some liquid vitamins. I dont know why I stopped taking liquid vitamins. It always kept me at good levels. But I'm here to get back to the basics. Start eating like I'm a wls patient and not just another "normal" person who can eat anything (within some limits of course)... kicking the sugar is the hardest for me. ... not having that one piece of chocolate (or 2) lol...  sooo... my butt is going out to get sugar free chocolate... just as a starting point. I dont like it as much so hopefully I'll ween myself off the real stuff that way and then just kick it all to the curb! it's hard but I think I'm ready!  Gotta get this weight off before the summer and there is still quite enough time to do it! :)

Hi Elizabeth!
Welcome to BOTT!  It's a great place to share your experience and questions.  I've been BOTTing over a year now and at 10 years out have learned how to get back on track.  Make sure that you visit everyday and post your food plan, it really helps!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome

We are so glad to have you here.  If you have not done so already make a list (on the left side of the page) of all the tools you used to get to goal and then make a list (on the right hand side) of all the tools are not doing.  This will be a great place to start.

Take a look at the docs we have to help you and we suggest take it one day at a time.  One bad habit replaced by a good one at a time.

You will do it!!!

Take care,
Kathy

Welcome Elizabeth - I  hope you find this site as helpful as I have.  There's no doubt I would not have been able to get back/stay on track without the support, caring, understanding, and acceptance I receive from this group of folks.  They are my family in a very real sense.
