You do know you can get saltines in a wheat cracker, that may help some.

I've not seen wheat cracker saltines... I'll definitely look for them this weekend.

Thanks for the great tip!

hey all!
This is my first week - so last Friday I was 215 pounds - THIS friday I'm sitting at 204!!! I know it's the first week and all - but I'm pretty proud. I fully expect next week to lose nothing as it's PMS week - but I'll take what I can get.
I still need to work on saying NO to carbs. I'm eating around 40 a day - and my protein is between 60-70.. so I need to do better about that. I Just have to remember to prepare foods for work the night before so I'm not caught so off guard or raviness at day's end.
I divorced McDonald's - so no going there any more. That's a big change for me - and I'm almost getting in my water.. about 6-7 cups of water - and I still have to have my coffee.. ugh.
I'm looking forward to stepping up my workouts next week.

Hey Everyone,

The good news is I lost 1/2 lb. this week.  The bad news is I lost 1/2 lb. this week.  I have been totally faithful in food and exercise.  Must be a bodily readjustment......who knows.

This week I lost 1/2 lb. and have lost 6 1/2 lb. for the month.  I am 3 lbs. from the challenge goal.  I can do this.......and not going to get discouraged.

I really shouldn't complain........I do feel good.

I have gave up nuts and watching my calorie/protein/carb intake.  I hadn't been journeling but started this week.

Hopefully this is just temporary and soon will pass.

My goals for the next week -
1300 cal meal plan
64+ protein
90 or less carbs
water water water
and at least 3 days of Curves.

Keep it up.......we are 1/2 way there.
Have a blessed day!

Can someone please tell me where I find out what the challenge is?  I am relatively new here and would like to get on board.

Since January 1 I have lost 13 pounds by cutting out calories, eating mostly protein and drinking as much water as I can stand (I HATE WATER and LOVE soda).  So far so good!  But I have also gained about 40 pounds in the last 2 years so I have it to lose!

Looking forward to hearing from someone,

Hi, Christine:

This challenge was Kathy's idea -- we are all trying to lose 5% of our overall weight by the end of the month.  It sure sounds like you are doing great!  13 lbs since January 1 -- that is wonderful!  :)

Hope that explains it!

Hi, Kathy:

To begin with, YES, I think this is a great idea for each month.  It really helps to come on here and be accountable, and to get so much support from each other.  Thank you for starting this!

Finally, this week, I have seen some movement on the scale -- down 3 lbs this week, which makes it 4 lbs since starting.  Almost half way to where I would like to be at the end of the month.

What has helped me this week is, quite frankly, buckling down.  I am pushing my protein way up, getting my fluid in AND tracking everything on FitDay again, a habit I got away from.  Next week I will, like you, cut down even more on my carbs.  Though I do eat the right kind of carbs, I need to steer myself away from them more than I have.

Again, thanks, Kathy!  :)

Hi All

I'm going to be honest and accountable - I gained 1lb this week.  I'm surprised as I thought my eating had been worse, but I had tried to balance the bad out with better eating later - guess I am doing better than I give myself credit for (if you get what I mean).

This challenge is helping me - I know that's a bit weird to say having just gained a pound, but I just need to sort my head out for when I am focussing on food.  So I am going to work on getting the balance between focussing on eatign right, without allowing my compulsive eating to kick in - it feels like trying to look to the right and left at the same time - look at food, don't look at food.

Have a great weekend

Ruth

Well I finally budged. I regained .9 lbs of the two I lost, but that still means I lost 1.1 lbs this week. That's a good start, but I'm sad its so little at the halfway point. I did conquer the carb monster last night again, and I am overjoyed about it this morning. Weather is 42* today, so I'll be moving around outside to get some cardio in. As for changes, I think I am right there with you, Kathy. I need to focus on a strictly protein-heavy diet with lots of water. Shakes just don't work for me, they leave me feeling hungry and dissatisfied. What works for me is turkey breast, chicken, pork or fish. Heavy lean protein. It fills me up and I feel even if I eat a slightly larger portion, I know its good for me. So I'm going for a high protein, high water and high green veg diet. Its worked for a kick start for me in the past, so I think it'll work for me now.

I like this challenge but I think it'd get wierd or old to do the exact same challenge monthly. If we could find a creative way to switch it up, I think that'd be excellent. Maybe lose an inch this month in your thighs or waist, increase your exercise by 10 minutes every day for the month, reach water goal no matter what every day for the month... That sort of thing? Whacha think?
