I will be gone awhile

I just wanted to let my fellow BOTTers that I will be off the board for awhile.  Our daughter & husband just had a baby girl 2 days ago, which should be the cause of great rejoicing; however, we are dealing w/ a very sad situation.

The doctors are virtually certain that our precious little Calla Grace has Down Syndrome.  In addition, she is a critically ill baby with a condition called pulmonary hypertension (a lung-blood pressure condition).  She is being ventilated w/ 100% oxygen and is receiving nitrous oxide to help relax her blood vessels leading into the lungs so that they can deliver oxygen properly.  While she is responding to treatment, the process is likely to take weeks, and she is a very sick baby.  The doctors give hope that she will fully recover from this condition and it won't be a further problem.

To say that we are having a very, very difficult time right now is putting it mildly.  It's hard for me to even write this.  My husband & I have been with them (they are not quite 2 hrs. away), but we returned home tonight to re-group and then will return to them on Fri.  My DH will come back to our home after the wkend, but I will be staying to help my daughter and to just "be there."

I will have access to a computer, but to tell the truth, I will probably not be posting.  I am doing the best I can to try to take care of myself, but I just don't think I will be coming here daily to check in.

Always,
Jo

(((( HUGS )))) I will be thinking of you.... Keep strong....And remember - food is not a comfort... when you get really stressed - try to go for a brisk walk - take 10 big breaths before you reach for comfort food.... You need to be strong for your DD.  You going off track will not help her - or you in that matter.
Best wishes....

And remember - we are here for you - to offer mental support, huggs and best wishes...

((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))

May you all be surrounded by peace during this time.  May you know a comfort and extend peace and comfort to your daughter and her family, may your arms and heart be strengthened to uphold your family.

May you all be filled with wisdom to make sound decisions when you need to.
