BOTT Challenge for January - Roll Call - Thurs

Realize I need to modify my 2010 goal a little bit:  It is eat right and maintain my weight + or - 3 lbs of goal weight.  When I do the first part, the second part follows   The weighing each day is what I, personally, need to accomplish the first part.

Today has not been a good day - I'm not thinking straight (first sign was I forgot to weigh before eating breakfast and we all know - we can't compare weight after we've eaten breakfast LOL) and there's a list of other "forgettings"  All red flags that I need to watch it.

My healing from surgery is a tad behind schedule so earlier today I made an appt with the dr for tomorrow to have that checked out.

so, for the most part, all is well  And I can report that I ate right yesterday just don't know if I was back down in the +/- 3 lbs range (was 4 lbs the day before).  Am eating right today.

Try to be patient with yourself on the time table for healing.  Everyone is different and as you said us older gals heal slower.  Did you increase your protein intake before sugery?  This really helps with the healing process.  Ask  your surgeon if it's ok to increase it as much as posible as protein is the way to heal well and fast...

We hope you feel better soon

Take care,
Kathy

5 years post-op, and one baby later, I am a big fat failure.  I have gained 50 lbs since my lowest weight of 146.  Last night I weighed myself, after a long day of drinking tea and water due to a stomach bug - and I was over 200.  I NEVER thought I would see that number again and I will never tell anyone except for what I am typing right now.  I weighed again this morning and I was under 200, but still.  Did I do all thatI did to fail?  Am I destined to be a fat chick all my life?
All I do is eat carbs when I have the chance to eat.  I run a very successful home daycare with a preschool ciricumum.  I have a long waiting list of kids trying to get in and I just dont have time to prepare the meals and/or foods I should be eating.  Instead, I grab whatever I can, whenever  I can = crackers, cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets, fries, corn, cookies, chips, granola bars.
I am so disgusted with myself.  I rememebr thinking about how I would eat as soon as my surgery was done....and here I am.  A big FAT failure.  I would very much like to join your group and start a healthy lifestyle again.

I hear ya sister!  I would rather eat white carbs (popcorn, pretzels) than anything else.  In fact it's how I got to where I am.  I was addicted to pretzels for a long time.  They are relatively low cal and no fat.  Zinger!!!  Had to quit that so I went to popcorn.  I use an air popper so it's much lower in cals.  Shot myself in the foot again!  Instead of 1 or 2 cups of low cal dry air popped I've grown to air popped, buttered, lots of Lowey's seasoned salted -  killer.  Very addictive.  I would hypo dump on these.  But I love it and would rather eat this than anything else.  Meet the 20 lbs my favorite addictive not good for me foods have given me.

I am toward the end of day 3 without my friend popcorn.  It's still on my mind but I want to be thin and an focusing on that.  Good luck to you!  It's hard, very hard but oh so worth it in the end.

 Hi all,
I should have "just said no" the the 3 cookies I ate today but no need  over giving in to bad choices.  I do now feel a more urgent need to exercise.  Otherwise things are going well.
Glad we have the challenge or else I would be tempted to sabatoge myself.  Thanks all.

I posted on the Cardio & Cafe post earlier this afternoon, but I've been having trouble being able to reply to this post every day--not that I don't WANT to, but the computer won't LET me!  When I click on your daily Challenge Roll Call, it opens up, but it immediately starts "blinking" off & on and won't stay on the screen.  Yesterday, as well as today, I was (obviously) able to click on it and have it "stay," but it did that weird thing over & over--and at various times of the day.    Have never had that happen on this site--or any other.  So I may not always be able to post to this strand.

I had been SO FAR OFF the track for SO LONG that this week has been a struggle for me.  Plus I hadn't been purposefully exercising this whole past year--and not so great the year before that.  (I can't BELIEVE how devoted I was the 1st 2 yrs. post-op.)

So . . . as a result, I have gained HALF of my weight back.  This is the 1st time I've written that down.  It makes me terribly sad, and "embarrassed" doesn't begin to cover it.   Never did I dream I'd allow that to happen, but I can certainly see by my eating/exercise behavior how it did.

This week I've been hanging on--and doing pretty well.  Not 100% BOT but doing vastly better, and I am working on more improvements.  I went back to the gym, which I think will help me in a lot of ways.

Thanks to you, Kathy, and to EVERYONE on this BOTT site for being a safe place to land.

Always,
Jo

Hi, Kathy:

I am still working at it -- though the scale doesn't show any changes yet.  :(  I am hoping that it is because I have started back with exercise, and I am just retaining some fluid.  I am just going to keep at it...it'll work soon!

I caved today and had some "crunch" by eating some tortilla chips...ssoooo bad.  I account for them in my calories/carbs etc. for the day, but I still have to steer away from them.

Tomorrow I am back at the exercise again, hoping that I will start seeing some movement soon.

B:  Protein bar
L:  Soup and salad
S:  Small banana and some tortilla chips (bad, I know -- ugh-- NO MORE!)
D:  Greek yogurt w/Go Lean cereal and SF flavoring
S:  Mock rice pudding

Have a great evening!

Hey everyone,

I have been doing ok the last few days. I am finally over my caffeine headaches. I have not had my old friend Mountain Dew since Monday. And I am not craving it. So I am really happy about that. I have not been drinking while I eat, and that is really helping me to stay full longer so I dont have the cravings to snack during the day. Here is what I had today:

Breakfest: Egg Omelet
Lunch: 1/2  baked chicken breast
Dinner: Baked tenderloin, 1/4 cup boiled green beans

NOw my goal for next week is to be back to drinking all my water! At some point I have to get back to exercising, there is a gree gym like 100 yards from my front door, but I have not been able to push myself over there to start working out.

The scale is moving but I will wait til tomorrow to post that for the weigh in...thanks everyone, I am sooo glad that we are doing this together. I really needed this!!!

So far so good today.
B - protien shake
S - tangerine, cottage cheese
L- turkey, red peppers, cow cheese, wassa bread
S - banana
D - chicken, lettuce, mixed veggie salad
S - orange (dieing for popcorn, but not going there)

Totals
Cal: 907
Fat:: 45
Carb: 68
Protein: 61
I feel I should have more protein so I'm having a shake tonight.  It will add 20 to the protein.

Had a moment at the grocery store today.  I have a mental game I play when I need a boost.  When at the grocery store I compare my cart contents to others.  It gives me a feeling of being in control when I see my cart with mostly veggies and fruit vs cookies, chips, pre packaged foods, fats, etc.   I also look a the size of the person with the cart full of foods I don't want to eat.  I feel better that I've made a choice to be and healthy.
Did I mention I would love to make popcorn!
