 Ruth,
From a true snackers experience.  Try to avoid snacking.  Even high protein snacks keep you in the habit.  When your good snack is not available, guess what????? You eat the bad ones.  With that being said, I treat myself with a high protein pudding called Wonder (not a home to read label), pure protein bar takes the edge off and works for me.  Beware of high calories and carbs.
Wishing u the best.

Thanks Z

I have a tendency to be all or nothing - so often I don't eat enough.  I'm going to try keeping my metabolism going throughout the day which is why I'm going to try high protein snacks inbetween my meals.

But yes, I agree, the calories from unplanned snacks add up quickly when you aren'****ching don't they.  I've stayed away from protein bars so far for that reason, but I guess better to eat that than something hig carb and high calorie...

I'm with you Ruth, I have forgotten alot of the old tricks and treats. I'll be heading back to class on Monday and need some ideas since this is my down fall. (Grabbing things on the run).

Tuna on crackers
Chickpeas (really good toasted in the oven, nutty and crunchy!)
Cheese
PB2 on celery
Nuts
Protein Shakes
Protein Bullets

Just to name a few off the top of my head.

Thanks Sion

hmm...chickpeas - they sound exactly the kind of thing I like - I'm gonna have to try those.  What type of chickpeas (in what state) are they before toasting and do I do anything to them beforehand?

I also think I'm going to have to 'bite the bullet' and pay for shipping on some protein bullets (excuse the terrible pun) and some decent protein shakes as I can't get them here.  All I can get hold of is some terrible tasting vanilla or chocolate protein powder used by body builders - yuck and high calorie!

Yeah, you'll be so much more happy having some shipped to you, I think. In the long and short run.

Chickpeas... I usually buy them canned, so they're in a constituted, moist state. Spread a smear of olive oil on a cookie sheet, salt/pepper/season the strained and rinsed beans to taste, spread on the sheet. Bake at 400* for 20 or so minutes, turning them every 5. Watch them after 10 to make sure they don't singe. Enjoy!

Thanks.  I had a look at a can today (before I read your reply) but saw they were loaded with Carbs so put them back on the shelf.  Are these carbs I should be concerned about as I really need to drastically reduce the amount I am consuming.  Mindyou, I should think that carbs from Chickpeas are MUST better than the same amount of carbs from chips!!!!!

Would spray olive oil work just as well?

Sorry for all the questions!!!!!!!

Ruth, I believe the carbs in the chickpeas would be offset by the fiber that they have in them - so they're not as bad as they'd initially appear.   I'm not sure I'd trust the spray olive oil for roasting, as I think it may not be as thick a layer as you'd like.

With regards to the protein that you want shipped - it may be cheaper for stateside friends to shop and ship for you - I know that international friends have told me that to have something commercially shipped is quite expensive - but it shouldn't be as much for a private shipment.

If you're looking for something in particular, I can try to find it for you here and send it over if you'd like!  Just let me know :)

Aw, thanks Kellie, that is such a kind offer.  I'll have a google around and then have a word with my sister in law - she is usually happy to ship things over to me, but if not I'll be taking you up on that offer.

Hugs, Ruth
