Three years out from RNY and have gained 30 lbs back!! HELP!!

Hello Everyone!   I feel like such a failure!  Three years ago I had my RNY in the first six months lost 85 lbs, then my father suddenly passed away and BOOM I was all off track.  I have maintained my weight loss until a year ago and all I crave is soft drinks and candy!  My goal was to lose 120 lbs all together, but never got to that point because I stopped losing at 80 lbs and now in the last year put 30 of it back on!!  I pray that you all can help me get back on track!  Before I lost my weight I had become a lifetime member of Weigh****chers (actually 33 yrs ago!)   Would it be dumb to go back to WW just so I would be accountable to face the scales every week?  Or should I just go back to the basics with your help by drinking my protein, eating lean meats, etc?
Please help me!!
Thanks! Kathy
Kathy

Hi Kathy, and welcome to BOTT.  Let's stop and regroup. First of all you are not a failure, you've just gotten off track, and we are here to help each other.  I will be three years post op in January and I have gained a few pounds also, but being here on this site has helped to keep me focused on the task at hand.

Read Cathy Wilson's Guidelines for Getting Back On Track. She has compiled a lot of useful information and helpful hints to get you started. Join our group and chime in.  Ask questions and post on the Cafe & Cardio Board, go back to basics and the most important thing is too thine own self be true.  You can do it!  No failures on this board.

Thanks, dreamgirl119!  You are so positive and this is exactly what I need right now in my life.  I know how hard I worked to even get approved in the first place for my surgery and then I was so on track with losing the first year, but BOOM life happened and I got all off track.  One good thing is that I don't have near as much to get off now as I did when I originally started!  I plan to keep on track on this wonderful group.

  Kathy,
We are all here because something caused us to get off track.  As has already been said, give BOTT a try and see how good it can be for you and you for us.  Going back to what helped u get the weight off is part of what this site is about.  I've never seen in rules here as to what form to use.  It is cost efficient to be accountable together with us but there is no shame or ridicule.  Take care and best of success.  Look forward to seeing your post and welcome.

Hello,

You are not a failure.  Your story sounds like mine.  After 5 years post op I have regained 27 lb.  I went to see my surgeon and got that pep/stern talk.  He suggested a book called "Die Fat or Get Tough".  It is changing your way of thinking from fat to fit.  I started reading the book a couple days ago and really enjoy it........some real eye openers.

He put me back to what he calls basics  - meat, veggies, cheese, nuts (tree nuts), and berries.

And I joined Curves.  You just have to take inventory and get yourself back on track.  You did it before, you can do it again.  I hope this helps.

Janet

Have a blessed day!
