A New Beginning

I want to share my story.  I have been banded since July of 2008.  I lost 80 pounds within the first year.  In June of this year, I became very ill.  I have an illness that is still undiagnosed.  It is some sort of neurological disorder and because of the symptoms, I am on medications that make me tired and hungry.  I am unable to do vigorous activity and I absolutely love to swim.  I am only able to do light walking.  I have regained half of my lost weight because of this.  I am trying to get back on track and am seeing my therapist again and my surgeon.  I get depressed and am really struggling with this.  I feel like a failure.  So, now I am here.

Welcome!

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a tought time.  You are not a failure - look at all the weight you lost before your illness.  Are you deliberately sabotaging yourself?  Doesn't sound like it to me.  It sounds like you have an illness and are struggling.  BUT you are doing the right thing - seeing your therapist and surgeon.

Sometimes there are things in life that are beyond our control - so deal with the things we can control - like seeing the medical professionals and letting them deal with it.

Big hugs to you, keep in touch and let us know how you are doing if you feel comfortable doing so

You are certainly not a failure - what you are is a human being.  Goodness knows, your challenges are major - yes, you could have made better choices, but you didn't.  Put the past in the past, get treatment for your depression and REMEMBER human beings aren't perfect, human beings make mistakes, human beings can correct their mistakes, human beings can learn from their mistakes.

I'm so glad you have chosen to join us.  WELCOME  If you feel comfortable, please post often and allow us to share your journey.  Don't be shy , let us know how we can be helpful.

I wish you well.
